SlicerogueHowever no one is asking you to report your scrims, it really just comes down to how you act. B4nny as much as I dont like some things he does, always tries to win, always seeks improvement, always strives to be the best and always thinks he will win. Pretty different from 2 players on ascent saying on stream before the match that they are gonna lose really badly. Its especially bad when I hear newbies who at first are inspired to be the best say that they no longer want to try because people in invite who are way better than them dont want to try. As much as i think that certain teams do strive to win and do work hard (kudos to them) nobody can deny that there is this overall mentality in high-IM/Invite that says theres no point being in invite cuz they cant beat froyo.
The insane propagation of these dumb ideas are starting to piss me off across all the threads talking about invite right now.
1.) This community exists because players want to play it competitively. This is just our hobby, save this 'healthy scene' shit for scenes that actually support their players financially. I just wanna improve, I'm not here to satisfy some need for an underdog story. The nerd essays in the other thread about grand finals are irrelevant best and give dumb ideas traction at worst. Who cares if froyo lost? Go play your scrims.
2.) If you seriously believe that people in invite just gave up on improving but also decided to commit 5 nights a week to scrimming then you have to be delusional. Complaining that invite players are complacent or defeatist is also a dumb argument. When people lose their hunger for improving they always quit. Unless you have something else to gain, nobody sane would stick around if they didn't care.
3.) If you also believe that you found the golden way to get better or that invite teams are just 'doing it wrong' then go be the one that beats froyo. Obviously since you know these super elusive secrets that nobody else has ever thought of before I should expect to see you stealing b4nny's welfare. Even then, if you are a top player your advice will still probably mean little considering how individualized improvement is for both teams and players.
4.) Froyo is the best team and they have the best environment to maintain that status quo. Froyotech has the ability to fall back on old teammates, prime access to new talent when needed, and the dedication that comes from being owned by the only full time tf2 player. Teams not only have to catch up to the froyotech of today, but also the froyotech of tomorrow, while also dealing with their team's own problems (of which they will undoubtedly have more)
5.) Despite all of that, Froyo isn't even untouchable. They are all capable of taking L's. Even b4nny can admit that some of their games are closer than they would like and he has an ego that blots out the sun.
EDIT: Some to most of this isn't directed at you, you were just the person i ended up quoting
