it has been said multiple times
lan isnt about gaining/breaking even (in a smaller game like tf2) as much as its about the experience of playing at the highest level on the most even field
it really bugs me how many people who say lan isnt necessary have never played 6v6 on lan
its literally a different game

noobiesiT wouldn't be iT if all they had to play against was vector gaming and 6 cuties.
iT is iT because they have 6 players who have worked really hard for a really long time to be as good as they are
they didnt fucking sit back and go "man i hope everybody who is way better than us comes and spoonfeeds us how to play high level comp tf2 just so that we can be competitive"
could you imagine some mid level team walking up to NiP or NaVi or TSM and saying "look you guys are raping too hard in this competitive, for pay format. please ease up off the gas teach us how to play so that you dont win as easily"
