#8 wildstar in Other Games
StarzZIm definitely gonna play it at release, I also might try out FFXIV

If FF14 turns out to be anything like FF11, I'd steer clear.

How do I get to play the beta for Wildstar?

#34 Powerjack update -> pyro viable in 6v6? in TF2 General Discussion

I don't mind coming across pyros because the majority of people who ever play pyro in a 6v6 environment isn't that great at the class. I know that sounds weird as it is the pyro class, but it is how it is. You don't really come across a good pyro.

However, I don't think the class has the arsenal to be consistently viable. It's an ambush class. Typically ambushing with the class works best as a surprise or with a flank strategy (half the reason why the backburner shit house strat worked), but since there's the Degreaser now, ambushing head on can work fine. The only reason why I think a flank/surprise ambush works better is because it's something even people not so good at the class can easily get away with (welcome to pyro).

Regardless of me having said that, you already know the class works the best at close range. Well, if you're not using gimmick weapons (the one flaregun that does pretty much no damage, has no afterburn and has a knock back effect for example). You know what the problem is? Every other combat class can be equally or more effective from medium range and long range, excluding scout for the latter.

If the pyro wasn't an ambush/close range class, I would suggest the class having its close range capabilities nerfed and giving it better medium range capabilities. Maybe kind of buff what it can do at long range, but I'd be fine with or without that part.

tl;dr the class in its entirety isn't built for a consistent 6v6 environment, especially against players who know what they're doing and even more especially to that because the majority of people who play pyro ever in 6v6 just hope something goes right

#18 types of aim in TF2 General Discussion

it helps knowing how to aim in any way you can. not necessarily a bad idea learning how to aim one specific way, but it's definitely good to be able to aim well in multiple ways

#13 Defrag TF2 in Q/A Help

My hardware has been able to run TF2 in practically any environment with at least 250-300 FPS up until a month or two ago. Now I'm lucky to get 200 when I'm not too busy trying to aim with 40.

I think whatever's causing that is causing timedemo to be affected too, which I would assume makes sense.

my god this entire thing is incredibly frustrating.

#10 Defrag TF2 in Q/A Help

Something, I think, is wrong with my TF2 when I do it.

2639 frames 52.096 seconds 50.66 fps (19.74 ms/f) 2.821 fps variability

I only ever get 50 FPS when I experience my annoyingly stupid random FPS drop problem. Otherwise I usually get around 200 FPS. Is this benchmark supposed to make the demo playback really quickly then really slowly?

edit: I noticed it speeds up and slows down only sometimes. Dunno if it's supposed to do that though.

edit #2: okay so apparently benchmarking is very inconsistent for me, same as my fps when playing myself. i'm not sure if they're connected, but i would assume so. oh well.

#4 Defrag TF2 in Q/A Help

That's because it will Google search anything that doesn't end in a .something suffix or isn't something like about:plugins or similar.

Also I haven't defragged TF2 in forever and this did it in less than a minute. Not sure if Steampipe2good or something's up. Gives me "File Fragmentation 0% - 0/11 clusters" but does nothing with them and just ends, saying it completed. So I'm guessing it just went through those 11 instantly.
