you clearly didn't think this one through
The file that controls the chatbox is basechat.res. It is uncommon to find that file in most huds so you'll need to extract it from tf2's gcf files.
Do you think lagarith can further significantly compress files processed by ffmpeg?
Thanks, dellort. I don't think ffmpeg can encode lagarith lossless codec files.
Lange, if you use ffmpeg is the bitrate variable or constant? If it's variable is the value you select the max or average?
vertical refresh rate is different than horizontal refresh rate
you should try to defrag your gcf files
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/60781878/gcfdefrag.rar
extract to steamapps>close steam>run_gcfdefrag.bat
fpsmax doesn't matter too much, as long as it's above your refresh rate and doesn't cause screen tearing
I've seen some huds do this, how do I do this with my own hud?
you need a solid foundation: decent fps, good mouse, stable internet, good attitude, passion and friends. once you've got that stuff down it's only a matter of time before you get better.
http://www.twitch.tv/derobertc is streaming this for those who want to watch.
http://www.twitch.tv/coletf2 is also streaming. (a bit more entertaining)
thanks Lange
yo tyrone can I be added to the stream page?
streaming now btw
tf2:1280x720, highframes, borderless window
all unused services/processes disabled
all windows visual effects off
obs settings
encoding: quality 10, max bitrate & buffer 1560 kb/s
video resolution: resolution downscale 1.5, FPS 25
x264 CPU Preset: Ultrafast
btw does anyone know how to force obs to use shift as my push to talk key? it wants me to use a shift+ shortcut and it wont let me just use shift. maybe i can edit a config file?
I was under the impression that you need a beast computer to stream tf2 but it turns out that's not true. I'm running on a 9800gt, 1.8GHz core2duo and 2GB of DDR2 so I never even considered streaming. I took a look at Lange's stream performance thread (thanks) and I gave OBS a try just to see how things would play out and it turns out I can stream great at a decent quality with minimal fps drops. So I'm planning on streaming whenever I play tf2. You can follow me at http://www.twitch.tv/hoolitown
here's a quality test: http://www.twitch.tv/hoolitown/b/335775378
