#6 Need help with PC build in Hardware

For keyboard I very highly recommend the Hippopotamus Choc Mini or the Keycool 84. Both absolutely phenomenal TKL blue switch boards. Also nVidia is the way to go, ATI drivers are notoriously shit and their cards are noticeably weaker. Good for budget builds, not so good if you want a powerhouse

I love how you have the copyright logo in the bottom right even though I very highly doubt that you went to the patents office and got the tool copyrighted. :P

#7 major fps lag in Q/A Help

"FPS lag" that term makes me cringe so hard. It's lag or FPS drop, not both. They're two completely separate terms, one refers to connection (and more precisely latency) and the other refers to framerate. Please excuse the off topic reply.

In response to the question try rolling back your driver anyway, even if you're on an ATI card. Alternatively you can try updating your drivers. Also validate your game cache. Have you made any changes to your game/system recently? If so undo them and see if that fixes it.

EDIT: Also try using/removing an FPS config you are/aren't using one, try a different DirectX level. Maybe you're using some custom texture or a custom sound that's broken and bugging the game out? Next time it happens, please check the console and see if there are any error messages related to the problem.

#16 Disconnect: Client timed out in Q/A Help
WaldoIt might be an internet problem, have you tried the usual fixes for that?

Restarted router, reset router, tried a different wireless card, tried an Ethernet cable. All multiple times each.

#24 Help Huey in TF2 General Discussion
blinKAll I know is he comp died during our last match and he hasnt been on since then really.. It's definitely not a joke.

Well that's a vouch. I still suggest we wait a few days before we start hurling money at this guy's PayPal. If he is expecting to wait months for a new computer, he can wait a few days until we have more proof.

EDIT: That sounds a bit aggressive. Sorry lads

I'm terribly sorry if this is real, but it does seem fake to me. Anyone have any proof?

WaldoDelete everything in your steam folder besides steam.exe, steam.dll, and your SteamApps folder, then restart your computer, then start steam. That should fix it if it's a steam problem.

Done that already, also reinstalled TF2 multiple times

#9 Forum Name Change Essays in Site Discussion
slideI can see where you're coming from, but it would just be too much effort for such a basic thing.

Well it would prevent people spammimgvthe Request forum and would separate those who actually need it from those who just feel like having a different name because they'll have to put the effort in.

#11 Disconnect: Client timed out in Q/A Help
WaldoIf it's from lawena, then it's probably some arbitrary convar which isn't in an FPS config, but is in lawena's config. Does the game freeze, or do you lose connection with the whole "Auto disconnect in X seconds", or just a sudden disconnect?

I join a server, after 5-60 seconds (time varies a lot) it freezes and does the auto disconnect. I type retry in console it says Steam validation invalid or something like that. Type retry a second time and iit connects no problem. It only happens on pubs (I.e. servers without the ready up dialog)

Oh, and i play in DX 9. It has been happening to me in every Source game since I can remember.
