#13 Is Hillary Clinton Faking Rally's now? in The Dumpster

Probably the most interesting article published this year is this one from PlosOne http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0147905

It's open access and all of you should read it.

Essentially it says that conspiracy theories are almost entirely non-viable because the amount of people that would need to be kept quiet reaches proportions that are so large, it is completely infeasible to even begin thinking it would be possible. We can apply similar logic. How many people would have to know and be involved in this conspiracy. Combine that with the fact that it would be a media field day and probably quite lucrative in terms of fame and some monies for anyone who would come out about it. Are you really telling me that all the people involved in making a fake video or organizing a fake rally would be quiet? It only takes exactly one person, and with the way the media is in a frenzy for anything to talk about this election cycle that isn't how batshit insane and obviously dangerous a person Trump is, it would catch on quickly.

#4 Im sad in Off Topic

Take one night, grab a carton (or bag) of chocolate milk, wallow a bit.

Then search for another team, plenty of teams still looking for a last minute replacement/backup and teams cut/search all season long.

because its directly countered by taking a scout and either a demo or soldier in with your uber against it.

good as a surprise play/last ditch defense effort

otherwise not particularly threatening.

#13 Ringers on a scrim in TF2 General Discussion

I think it can still be meaningful and useful to play, but not nearly as much so as if you have your full. More than 2 is just a pug scrim which is fine, but not a substitute for real practice

#93 ESEA-IM S23 Happenings/Discussion in TF2 General Discussion

kinda last minute but I know the System 2 roster ( https://play.esea.net/teams/124379 ) is unlikely to be used this season. Idk if anyone else will, but I am willing to help fulfill roster rules on days I don't work.

#46 teamfortress.tv Staff Recruitment in TF2 General Discussion

Now that my work schedule means I cannot play, I am more than willing to stream for tftv or anyone who needs a streamer. I am especially interested in bringing IM/high open play to the masses.

Twitch bandwidth test says 10000+kbps to all servers except Miami (fuck florida), I have a computer that can handle 1080p/30 or 720p/60 (and thinking about getting a second computer for dual streaming), I am familiar enough with the game to be able to capture action and I know enough JS to do some nodecg work (though nothing compared to the excellence that has been the norm for a while on tftv). HMU.

#8 what vm should I use to play on the ESEA Client? in Q/A Help

why not dual boot? I use linux as my day to day OS and even play scrims on linux, then switch to a (tiny) windows partition for other games/tf2.

Prolly much easier and less work/hassle/performance decrease than a VM

if you think homophobic parents don't "really even care too much" or that they'll just get over it you really do not understand people or the dynamic at work here

I've helped a lot of people come out and in general, the objection to a child being homosexual usually comes in one of two flavours.

1. "I love my child and I don't want their life to suck/be hard/be full of prejudice"

2. "I love my child and I don't want them to burn in hell"

In almost all cases I've found that 1 is easily circumvented, but 2 takes some time. Essentially though, I've only really met a handful of people whose parents honestly and legitimately chose their religious beliefs over having a civil relationship with their children.

I'm not saying that every ultra right wing religious conservative parent comes around fully and starts marching in pride and 100% accepts, but plenty of people have strained relationships with their parents in adulthood.

vriskim a gay boy with homophobic parents and it sucks so bad. People just tell me to cut them off when I turn 18 and move out but I don't wanna do that because I love my parents.

I think the part that hurts the most is when something about LGBT people gets brought up and they talk about how disgusting it is

When you are financially secure and independent of your parents, tell them and then, if they freak, give them time. Don't hang around toxic shit and make it clear that if they want to have a relationship with you, it is on the terms of it being with the real, homosexual, you. But usually if you hold your ground and don't take shit and use the fact that they want you in their lives as much as you want to be in theirs, they will come around.

Good luck. Coming out is hard and being gay when your parents are homophobic is even harder, but you can make it.

I have everything I wanted as a younger me. A good job that pays me really well to do something I love, a nice apartment downtown, a bright future, security and comfort. I'm even losing weight and getting into shape. I don't live paycheck to paycheck, I use my education and training to really make a difference in the world and I have tons of free time to do what I want...

But I'm miserable, I hate myself and I'm just as unhappy as I was 5 years ago. I don't feel like I belong anywhere or that I am wanted anywhere. It feels like everyone is coldly indifferent to my existence.

aim-trippai drink diet coke because i think it tastes better than regular coke lulstudy about aspartame, the main sweetener in diet soft drinks. In that study, which was done on rats, researchers linked aspartame consumption to brain cancer

Interestingly, aspartame is one of the most studied additives in existence and its safety confidence is out of this world. It is, by far, the additive that we are most sure is safe.

In fact, the European commission's Scientific Committee on Food published a document evaluating aspartame which concluded that, after the evaluation of more than 500 papers published between 1988 and 2001, there was no safety risk in aspartame, and suggested that a daily maximum recommended value of 40mg per kilogram per day. At about 180mg of aspartame in a can of diet coke, that would be 16 cans minimum needed before even reaching the threshold that the committee thinks is a lot of consumption, and even then there has been no evidence to support there being harmful effects at that amount.

The study to which you refer is called the Ramazzini study, which was done exclusively on rats, given so much aspartame that they were practically brined in it, and still showed no actual positive statistical link to cancer rates in an independent review of the data.

So yall good. Bottoms up.

Oh and the best soda is a Coke Zero, half Sailor Jerry's rum with lime.

#31 Apt LFT Scout S23 IM/High Open in Recruitment (looking for team)

Apt is at an interesting spot in his tf2 skill level. On the one hand, he clearly has the DM and movement to make it far in IM. On the other hand, he can sometimes play like the "DM scouts" he reviles so much. When he would play smart, use the brain that he has and apply his knowledge of the game and teamwork skills, he made our flank and post ubers successful almost single-handedly (especially early in the season before punisher was his scout partner). On the other hand, all too frequently did he run in like a maniacal robot who cant even count to three, much less remember three laws.

If he could channel a little more Hannibal Lecter, cold, cunning and smooth, applying violence when the time is right, he could be a scout worth picking up at the highest tiers of IM. His attitude and quickness to take personally anything that goes wrong in a game need work.

But his out of game personality, his work ethic, his dedication to improving and his team can not be overstated. No matter what happened on system2, I never had any doubts that apt would stick with us to the end and he absolutely did, trying just as hard in our last playoff match as any other, despite knowing that he would be parting ways with us within the week.

Overall, he would be a good fit on a team of IM gamers looking to improve and work hard this season, while keeping a good and non-tilted attitude.

Good luck apt, sorry for all our shit :P
