#2 Life's Good in Customization

The next three HUDS started as BroeselHUD just the same but are significantly more customized. As you can see I like the PVHUD style of having the health and ammo numbers large and at the bottom of the screen. I also prefer to have the itemeffect meters out of the way. I didn't know what to call them, so I named them after some of my former students (yes I am a schoolteacher).

#1 Life's Good in Customization

I made six (6) HUDs this summer. All but the very last one are edited versions of Broesel's HUD, so they preserve pretty much all the functionality and customization of BroeselHUD 2.7. Check the readmes that come with the HUDs to see what else you can change.

All of these HUDs were tested on 1600x900, 1440x900, 1280x720, 1366x768, 1024x768, 800x600, and 640x480. They should work on any resolution and any aspect ratio, but for the record I haven't been able to test them on any resolution larger than 1600x900.

The first two are

#8 More XHair Circle Question in Q/A Help

Same shit meaning what exactly...the same "couldn't parse script sequence" error? Or is the error msg gone and the circle just doesn't flash red?

#6 More XHair Circle Question in Q/A Help

I think it's because you have the return in there...should be:

Animate xHairCircle3 FgColor “255 0 0 255″ Linear 0.0 0.00001

and

Animate xHairCircle3 FgColor “255 255 255 48″ Linear 0.15 0.15001

one single line each

#17 What do you want to see in a HUD? in TF2 General Discussion

I think players have such varied preferences when it comes to their HUD that the best you can do is to include as many different user-changeable variables as possible. Broesel HUD is a good example of this because, even though it isn't very pretty or flashy, most people can easily modify the colors, targetids, health cross, crosshairs, etc to their liking without much work. They can kind of make it "their own." Garm3n HUD takes a different approach but provides the same level of customization, which is why I think at the end of the day Broesel and Garm3n are so popular.

#49 S15 Maps? in Map Discussion
YouMustMikeCan anyone tell me the argument for keeping Gravelpit again?

IMO gpit should stay in because:

It has two arenas (B & C) which provide consistently exciting teamfights that seem to rely more on a team's coordination, strategy, and positioning than their individual aggression.
There is no doubt in my mind that B house and C tower are two of the coolest and well designed "structures" in tf2, on the level of blands spire or granary mid. Every class has interesting opportunities to do damage, get frags, and swing the fight in their favor.

To me, viaduct would be the other side of the coin in that it rewards individual aggression a little more, particularly in regards to scouting, and throughout the season I think these two maps are a welcome variation to the conventional 50/50 blend of disciplined coordination and chaotic aggression offered by 5cp.

Also, the stopwatch scoring system makes for some of the most tense, scrappy fights in tf2 (around C).

Finally, gpit allows some non conventional classes to shine; engie, heavy, sniper, even fucking spy and pyro see more impactful play on gpit than really anywhere else.
Say what you want about pyro--or any of the others--as a class, but the reflect airshot by an aspiring Mad Man on C tower a few lans ago is one of the coolest moments we have ever seen in the history of this game. Off-classes are fun and good for 6v6 in small doses.

I must admit that edifice one-ups gpit because it potentially has three arenas that could provide good, full-team fights. I am in no way opposed to replacing gpit and trying out edifice. Hell, I'm also not opposed to removing gpit and viaduct altogether and just playing 5cp all season.

#34 Quick Fix? in TF2 General Discussion

I think building the kritzkrieg to 100% is a better use of your 32 seconds than building the quickfix to 100% most of the time.

If after 32 seconds you have full kritz and the other team has full qf, then you obviously have an advantage.

If you have kritz and the other team has uber, you have that same 8 second window to win the fight before the other team gets full charge. I think we can all agree that kritz gives your team a significantly greater chance of winning that fight over qf. Not only does your team have more potential damage output than they would if you ran qf, but your team overall should have a lot more health because of the larger buffs. And there's always that chance that your demo hits the "magic crit sticky."

I think qf defending last after wiping at mid isn't necessarily the best answer. Would you rather have your team full-buffed or half-buffed when the other team pushes in? If you manage to fend off the attack and keep your medic alive, which of the three charges would you rather have when pushing into second?

But, like someone has pointed out already, it's all just theorycrafting at this point.

#61 Worst Movies Ever in TF2 General Discussion

Siberian Film was alright...at least it had a plot with some momentum and compelling motivation for the main character.

If you want to see "shock tactics" fall flat, check out the Human Centipede movies or the August Underground stuff, my candidates for the worst movies of all time. Just no redeeming value whatsoever. Megan is Missing is almost as bad, although not quite as exploitative.

#6 UberCounter: Android App For Medics in TF2 General Discussion

That's pretty sweet, and definitely worth the money I'd say.

If you're poor like me and don't have a nice phone, just remember that 2 seconds = 5 percent for regular uber. With that in mind the math is pretty easy to do in your head in game. 2s = 5%, 4 = 10, 6 = 15, and so on. (So, if their medic spawned 12 seconds before you, he has around a 30% advantage for example.)

#103 Gpit Tonight in TF2 General Discussion

Generally people who hate gpit fit into one of two categories. Either they just don't know how to play the map, or they are bored of sitting in spawn and building uber like open players (coughmadmencough). Stop building in spawn, it isn't season 9.

Personally I think it's unlikely that gpit draws more spectators than any other map. I don't think that's a very good argument to keep it in. In fact, stopwatch scoring can get kind of confusing for people who aren't familiar with it.

On the other hand, the "luck factor" is a bad argument against gpit. Yes, there is less margin for error on gpit than 5cp. But you didn't get rolled because you got unlucky. You got rolled because you fucked up. I've been embarrassed on gpit as much as the next guy, but I own up to my mistakes and then come back the next season and try to fix them.
