#15 Resume advice? in Off Topic

The only time I've ever seen CVs in the US is for academia - lots of professors list the research they've done, papers they've published, long lists of things relevant to their field of study over the course of a lifetime.

#27 Majors and jobs and stuffs in Off Topic
blazeitYou need to remain in academy for only 4 years right? Then whats the problem?

The problem is that it's at least 7-10 years in academia to become an actual physicist. Sure, you can get your undergrad / Bachelor's degree in 4 years but most of the labs hire people with a Masters or Doctorate's degree, which can be anything from 2-6 years after you finish your undergrad degree (2-3 for Masters only, I've heard 4 but mainly 5-6 for doctoral programs at least in US). You can definitely get a spot working in a research or applied lab with a Bachelor's degree but you'll never be more than an assistant i.e. not heading your own projects. A Bachelor's can only take you so far which is why Benk's situation is more common - engineering degree with some background in physics so that you know more of the theory of how things work but your engineering degree is the one that opens more doors.

#5 March Madness is upon Us in Off Topic
atidere I think Wisconsin could meet up with Kentucky either in the final four or finals but regardless win.

All thread derailments aside, Wisconsin should go pretty far. I'm up here in B1G country so I've heard endless talk about Kaminsky and seen endless highlights of him running rampant over the other teams here. The problem with Bo Ryan's setup is that they play 1-2 deep of their bench and rely heavily on Kaminsky for the majority of their scoring, so if he gets injured or fatigued they might be in trouble. It wasn't too difficult for them during B1G play since no team figured out how to stop him. After you've managed to contain him though you've got to deal with the fact that they rarely foul or turn the ball over. Haven't seen much gameplay of Kentucky but you can't deny that 33-0 coming into today's conference tournament final is damn impressive.

TL;DR toss-up between Wildcats and Badgers, good luck to all other teams trying to stop them

#32 2/14/15 Newer Open teams, how's your midseason? in TF2 General Discussion
mana Answer these questions you fool

How's the difficulty of schedules and the new matchups thus far?
Had a FFW and got rolled on Viaduct week, one of the gully teams was dead and we're playing the other gully match tonight so we'll see how that one goes.

Have you guys been improving a ton since you've started playing in the season?
Yes. I know I still suck at movement and avoiding direct rockets to the face but my gamesense / keeping track of enemy shootsters has grown tremendously and I'm not pressing W so much in flank.

What has stopped you from improving, if something is?
I should be watching demos / STVs of our matches and scrims more than I am currently which is 0. I'd like to have a team demo review or map walk-through night once a week but we barely get 2 nights per week for our scrims + matches due to personal schedules.

Has anything on ESEA caused trouble while playing?
Nope! Everyone got the client to work for the very first match which was a pleasant surprise

How do you feel about playing in ESEA?
Reading the other replies lets me know that I'm not alone in wishing that other teams wouldn't die. Sure it's not fun rolling / getting rolled but the second half of the season was for fighting teams close to us in skill level.....right?

A few on the team have participated in PUGs (shoutout to sezco b4nny and truktruk) after matches some nights so those are fun / rewarding as well.

What has made you guys improve?
griffin yelling at everyone

http://play.esea.net/teams/91775

It's tough to get more than 1 consistent scrim night a week with everyone's schedules but I learned how real life can get in the way of videojuegos from our time in UGC so having subs definitely helps. We had a sub-par finish in silver last season and we're doing better than I had expected at 2-2 so far. I still have to work on overextending and getting caught out less, but I think increased communication about where I am / where the enemy is will help me get better at not dying.
