#38 ESEA S19 W7 – froyotech vs. Ascent in Matches

Can anyone explain to me the reasoning behind froyo going through (alley/flank/flowershop) and not just going to the right on mids a la Badlands shithouse / mirrored midfight? Is it just more of a passive play and baiting Ascent to bomb into them and try to deny jumpers? The one time it worked well duwatna got a 3k/4k with the donkergun obliterating jumpers / everything in the air but the second half didn't really pan out for midfights in their favor. I know historically sunshine has been froyo's weakest map but any input or different viewpoints would be appreciated thanks

I know granary_pro got some initial testing and feedback but idk if dagger's been doing anything lately or what the thread is like tbh

Glassworks and logjam would be neat though, kind of jealous of all the euros getting to play logjam

pissheadBut we can already write phrases with letters?

But look at how sweet that looks compared to normal text chat!
Go on, look at it.

On a more serious note one can easily monetize this by making these or more advanced designs available to subscribers and donators etc

#1392 HUD editing: short questions, quick answers in Customization

I'm working with the health numbers for players in SpectatorGUIHealth.res, and this guide has been an excellent resource so far, for anyone else.

My end goal is to have them be bigger and readable. So far I've made the one above the player's head larger, but it also seems to make the one on the main target ID larger as well. I'm fine with them being the same size, but when I move them around using xpos/ypos/width/tall in "PlayerStatusHealthValue" and "PlayerStatusHealthValueBackground" to make the one on the head readable, the one on the main target ID gets fucky like so:

Is there a way to fix this? Can I make the TargetID box bigger to somehow move the green 300 over but not affect the jumping soldier's 200 at all?

edit: It also screws with the ones in spectate but the same principle applies, the numbers get cut off on the right and when i try to move them over to the left then the box cuts them off

edit2: Edited the values for "wide" and "tall" under "SpectatorGUIHealth" in the TargetID.res file seems to have fixed it, now slightly covering the ammo icon.

edit3: Moved ammo icon, also whatever I did last time fixed it for spectator too so problem solved! Thanks Doodle!

#8 TF2 update for 6/11/15 (6/12/15 UTC) in TF2 General Discussion
Benroadshttp://puu.sh/ilyqt/e925f1fb5e.jpg

My game has been validating for ~45 minutes now is anybody else having this problem?

No but I can't connect to any server; quickplay, direct connect through console or even a local listenserver. I've verified twice and keep getting this when I try to have a local server for badlands:

Show Content
] map cp_badlands
Using map cycle file 'cfg/mapcycle_default.txt'. ('cfg/mapcycle.txt' was not found.)
Set motd from file 'cfg/motd_default.txt'. ('cfg/motd.txt' was not found.)
Set motd_text from file 'cfg/motd_text_default.txt'. ('cfg/motd_text.txt' was not found.)
'listenserver.cfg' not present; not executing.
'cp_badlands.cfg' not present; not executing.

Team Fortress
Map: cp_badlands
Players: 1 / 24
Build: 2827522
Server Number: 1

The server is using sv_pure 0. (Enforcing consistency for select files only)
Attempting to get world model before it was loaded

Host_Error: CL_RegisterResources: host_state.worldmodel/cl.GetModel( 1 )==NULL

Dropped AG.couch from server (CL_RegisterResources: host_state.worldmodel/cl.GetModel( 1 )==NULL
)
Connection to game coordinator established.
Current item schema is up-to-date with version 3E562D08.
tf_server_identity_account_id not set; not logging into registered account

Any idea what CL_RegisterResources: host_state.worldmodel etc means? Google isnt getting anything done there for me

EDIT: it was the command -nopreload in my launch options that was fucking me over so try and get rid of that if you're using it I guess

#31 Newbie Mix Coaches in TF2 General Discussion
InsomniaI stopped in last night to check out how things were going and offer to help out, but sadly got dragged away for the first hour. I was curious what exactly you need out of coaches. Are they there to act as captains and help pick teams? Or are they also in comms with said teams giving advice? Either way, I think coaching is something I'd like to help out with in the future.

The admins do all the captaining and picking the teams. The coaches are in the mumble channel and the server with the 12 newbies and do various things related to the game itself - things like answering questions about competitive, going over map callouts, positioning, heal order, rollouts, etc. Personally I like to get a bead on all the new players and their current level of competitive, i.e. lobbies, UGC division. As for time constraints, I've found it takes about 60-90 mins depending on how you or the other coach wants to run the mix. Some coaches like to pause after every round and go over things; other times just let them play and give 15-20 mins of feedback when the 30 minutes of gameplay are over (standard "first-to-5 wins" config). It usually takes 20-30 minutes to get both teams to the Ready Up state, going over map callouts and rollouts and class roles sort of thing. I'm sure KevinIsPwn, Randal, or another coach could pop in and weigh in on this as well. Hope this helps!
