Also whenever I add my own custom main menu background for tf2, it is very pixelated, this assuming because of my config. Is there any way to make the picture bypass the low settings so it stays HD?

Edit: Ok, so a picture I found that was already in vtf format looks good. However, when I convert my own 1920x1080.png to .vtf, it looks good on VTFEdit but then in-game is very pixelated. So maybe not bc of the config and instead different render options?

#3 Aiming with movement in Q/A Help

First example of aiming with movement that comes to mind is scout 1v1 where you mimic the other scouts movement to minimize crosshair placement. Aim-moving is not a bad habit and a mechanic you can choose to apply if it fits with your philosophy/theory about aiming. Do whatever works best for you and what you find comfortable. Aiming is very subjective and there is not a defined way of doing things that equal success. Good mechanics comes from good practice.

Irish_JoshSimiarly, what mustard linked previously about I said about the iron bomber still stands, the weapon isn't overpowered, it's a viable way for demo to stay relevant in this current game and not all demos can still put up the numbers/impact required even with this weapon. If all demos where able to drop 10k every game and make everyone's life a misery, then I'd agree but the fact is, I can play against all the prem demos and see mediocre numbers/impact with this "overpowered" weapon and outcome would have fuck all change if they were using stock pipes/loose cannon.

Yeah, every demo..who faces me..shits out their insides the moment they smell...my intense alpha musk...so that to relive themselves of the pain and...the embarrassment..they kill-bind the moment they play..against me. I pity the fool..who dares to challenge...me. Let the demo have their...pathetic IB...so they can maybe, have a chance and I can finally...have a challenge.

If you're arguing to keep the IB then you don't realize that, if tf2 was actually being monitored and updated, then the IB would be fixed a long time ago and we wouldn't be in this position. The IB hitbox is obviously not intended to be what it is, hence it is literally broken and bug that is being abused.

IB was like giving the demo training wheels so the class could be relevant again after the sticky nerf, because they essentially made the skill ceiling higher for demo with the sticky nerf and then lowered it again with the IB. That was a long time ago tho and I would like to believe that maybe most demo mains (sry warhuryeah) have recovered. Heck most demo mains that play today weren't even born when the sticky nerf became a thing. I would also like to believe that the demos, who already have good mechanics, will bounce back in no time when the ban does go through and the rest will just have to git gud.

I could be wrong tho and maybe y'all (me included) are only good because of the IB and once it gets removed the game will literally die!

Edit: why do we have to argue and give reason to ban something from the whitelist, why not argue and reason why it should stay in the whitelist?

I could be wrong but isn't mg really easy to counter with good awareness, good movement and a scout? Should we not reward skilled weapons and outplay potential? Isn't it a good thing if a good enough soldier can break a stalemate with a set off good jumps and a well timed spoon?

Edit: stuff like loch 'n load is pretty insane imo as well, it should only have 2 grenades to be fair.

I think the pace of the game fluctuating is a fine mechanic and stalemates aren't inherently bad. Most games are running at an arguably OK pace because the players employ themselves to push the pace forward.

However, the system doesn't exert enough pressure and there isn't any emphasis or reward for good tempo and thus, any game can be slowed down to a point where as both teams are content to stalemate on their respective points and jerk off until the timer runs out so they can do it all over again.

This makes for very boring games to play and spectate which is a huge problem if tf2 was an actual ESport. Imagine funding a million dollar prize pool, world stage tf2 tournament and each game would be a 30 minute 1-0 game where nothing is happening. If you were a professional caster or a new player just discovering tf2, why would you want to cast or play this game after what you just witnessed.

The problem isn't that sometimes games have stalemates, the problem is that every game has the potential to stalemate for 30 minutes. That is a flaw, but also something we are so used to today and that we just ignore it and live with it because that is what the tf2 community has had to do. Tf2 competitive scene became something because of its potential but hasn't become anything because of its flaws. It is still alive, after (8, 9?) years of failing, because people stick around whiter it be for Stockholm Syndrome or because through rose colored glasses, red flags, just look like regular flags.

I think people have slowed it down for sure themselves with the playstile and with the "meta", but from a game developer point of perspective, if something has a tendency to act a certain way, it is very likely caused by the system of rules which it is bound by and by changing the rules and parameters, even slightly, you could potentially redirect the course immensely.

I have no clue what to change in the system however to fix it and from a developers point of view, I would start with incremental test changes to see what effect they have and with actual real time data, adjust accordingly.

However the problem here is that the tf2 community, thanks to its own environment, is super conservative and would rather theory craft theoreticals and come to conclusions they 'think' to be true, rather than to actually make changes and see how it would affect the gameplay. Most of the time, if a change is made by the community and it has negative effects, the change is then reverted and the idea neglected and everyone goes back to their old comfort zone they were so use to, even tho the more healthier thing to do, if u actually want to make a change, is to adjust the parameters of the adjustment. The tf2 community claims to want to grow and fix problems, but essentially we don't, because growth to us is only acceptable if everything stays the same - contradictory? Yes!

You lobbing rockets, something I argued you could do with another rocket launcher to a lesser extent, is thanks to the fact you were being otherwise uncontested the entire time. You denied the soldiers trying to contest you, do you credit that to the cowmangler? If not, I would then say that the situation is valid but pretty rare.

Would it not be nice if people who like the visuals and effects could use it?since its an upgrade u have to have a less fun time to play soldier optimally. i have no problem if u like how the model looks (i think it looks fine) but large viewmodels and visual bugs are just objectively annoying
Brockzx37Meanwhile on medic, full charge w/ no viewmodels... it just seems silly to bring this up in the context of the thread’s questionim not sure what yr trying to say. yes the same visual bug is on medic and its distracting there too (though its better than the mangler, since it helps indicate full charge, and since its a constant effect it's arguably less distracting too)

You could then argue that the upgrade is not that significant if it gets nerfed by its visiuals. I also belive people will still use the stock and original over the mangler, either for esthetics, personal preference or to counter sentries.

zx37its the most visually obstructive viewmodel ever, and when u turn vm off u still get those little floating electric particles every 2 seconds

It honestly was not clear to me, I genuinely like what it brings to the table and wanted to have a healthy discussion and get input from others opinions.

What I am hearing tho is that the charge shot is too toxic and therefore can't be allowed. If no charge shot, do you think it then would be balanced enough? Don't forget it has zero counter-play to sentries then.
