As a scout, I really like it when demos call which soldier or scout is lit. Things like "roamer is lit"/"scout on left lit" is great because then I dont go and try and kill somebody that is actually still at full health.

you should try doing some of these things:
1. One thing that really screws up rockets is changing your distance between you and the soldier (this works with all projectiles and it certainly helps "dodge" hitscan too.)
2. Just jump once. Not double jumping as a scout really throws people off because t hey will often just wait for you to jump again.
3. When you jump airstrafe and try to get good at aiming while doing this.
4. try to actually move out of the way of rockets instead of just randomly dodging.
5. Against hitscan you can randomly stop for a millisecond to mess with people's heads. Don't use this too much though.
6. If you know you're in a situation where you probably wont win, surf rockets away from soldiers.
7. Pay attention to calls that say that a soldier is in an enclosed area. Its really easy for them to kill you in areas like the house on badlands so its often smart to just avoid them in those positions.
8. Some people have a lot of trouble hitting scouts that constantly shift the little area theyre spamming WASD in towards one direction. The other day i was in and sonnn was in there and it was really hard to hit him sometimes because i kept having to aim farther and farther to the left.

If you improve your movement/dodging you will take less damage so you will spend less time retreating and you will do better when you decide to play more aggressively.

Just wanna work on my positioning and gamesense. My last pushes also feel pretty weak as scout. I wanna be able to support the team better by staying alive when needed and covering them flanks so that no damn roamers or scouts get to my medic and demo. Maybe some scout partner teamwork stuff would be fun too. I consider myself to be on the higher end of mid open in case you're wondering what my skillz are.
