#34 Building new computer need elite techy help! in TF2 General Discussion

What i've read it always seems intel/nvidia are better quality/power than amd/ati. As i'm currently running an amd/ati setup i'm obviously not partial to either or. When I was a young kid my step dad bought me a top of the line alienware years ago (Area 51) which came with all intel/nvidia parts. It was a beast. Since then i've longed for that beast feel ever since. However, saving money never hurts. AMD or Intel, NVidia or ATI, doesn't matter as long as it's efficient at what it's supposed to do.

The one thing I can't stress enough is I really never even come close to using 500gb's. I've had my computer for a few years now and i'm at around 300gb. Haven't cleaned the hdd in a long time.

Streaming would be a nice option to have if I decide to do it.. I'm more focused about running video games and not having to upgrade for a few years. As opposed to going the cheap route and having to re-upgrade over and over again, or always sagging behind.

Everyones advice is noted and I thank you for your input.

I also forgot to add: I have a 24" LED BenQ XL24020T 120Hz monitor. I feel that my current setup is really holding back the power of my monitor and gpu. The AMD Athlon II X4 3.0GHz Quad Core processor apparently isn't powerful enough.

My PSU is about 3-4 years old. It's an antec triple rail I believe. 650w. PSU's are cheap though so if I have to get a new one it's not that big of a deal.

#1 Building new computer need elite techy help! in TF2 General Discussion

Alright well to keep it brief, I just got promoted at my job and my birthday is July 21st. So as a love gift to myself I want to build a new computer. Now i've done it a few times but i'm still no expert and not up to date with good builds. If any of you guys who know their stuff could help me come up with a build i'd greatly appreciate it.

I don't need a monitor/mouse/keyboard/speakers. I just need a beefy tower.

1) I want a good intel processor like an i7.
2) 8gb ddr3 ram should be plenty.
3) My current hdd is crap I don't even think it's 7200rpm. I would like one around 500gb minimum that is fast. 10k rpm if it's worth it? I never come close to filling 500gb.
4) Definitely want to go for a top of the line NVidia gpu.
5) I'd like a mobo that can support SLI if I ever decide to go that route.
6) One MAJOR problem i'm encountering is heat coming from my PC. My room is always hot. So a good case and cooling system is a must but I must admit i'm clueless as to how or what.

7) Items I can re-use: 650w PSU, CD/DVDR. If you think the PSU contributes to my tower giving off so much heat I can change it as well. Or if I need more than 700w for a powerful system.

If you could list the items with the new egg links that'd help a lot. I'm going to try to keep it within $1,000-$1,200. Hopefully it's possible. All I really do is game and web browse. Right now my build is bottle necking the hell out of my gpu I think.

Current built: AMD Athlon II X4 Quad Core 3.0GHz, 6GB DDR2 Ram, Radeon 5770 1GB, Cheap mobo, case and cheap hdd. Was a budget build at the time.

If you can help, thank you!! I'm just not entirely sure as to what is compatible to what etc. I just want the most gaming power with a logical build for the best price. =)

#1 Soldier/Medic Possibly LFT in Recruitment (looking for team)

Hello friends, i'm back.

Spent the last 3-4 seasons with xensity as medic even though I was originally recruited to play soldier. I think i'd prefer to play soldier but would do either depending on the situation. If it's an open team i'd be open to playing any of the classes. Lots of high IM experience and a season of invite under my belt. If anyone needs a medic or pocket/roam soldier let me know i'll take offers from any division. My goal here is to have fun moreso than winning with a mature bunch who doesn't rage when they lose. But also a group that is dedicated to improving at the same time. I haven't played in a few months but the rust comes off really quickly with me for some reason. Respond here or add me on steam if interested:

Thanks =)

#25 the return in TF2 General Discussion

I got promoted at my job at won't have as much time to commit to the game at this moment so I thought it was best if we dropped to IM and played more for fun than straight competition. I'll be roaming this season and arc is scouting..

#40 Passive vs aggressive scout roles in TF2 General Discussion

Scouts shouldn't be suicidal as often as they are, the only time they should provoke 1 on 1's is when it's a pure flank and a guaranteed victory or if you know they're a 1 shot kill. Otherwise you're better off staying alive and cleaning up the high damage output of your heavies. If you're always dead then your heavies have no support/weak flank. The truly great scouts have mastered what to do in every different situation. When to cover the flank, when to get aggressive off any kind of advantage, and playing off their team. Even if you have amazing dm and you're constantly going in for 1on1's or bad situations you won't come away with a solid k/d or help your team as much as you could if you just played off your team from the get go. The great scouts who get 2/1 or even 3/1 k/d's are the ones I just explained. Basically it's just situational. That's my take on it anyway. Some people have that 6th sense of knowing what to do in every situation and some people just simply don't have that ability. That is what really seperates a good scout and a bad scout. Not the defined roles.

#152 Got scammed tf2 items in TF2 General Discussion

Do what I did. Sell all your good unusuals to Fog for a slightly reduced rate. Guaranteed to never get scammed or have to deal with crap like this. Plus Fog is a great guy who deserves whatever he profits out of it. And i'm sure he's always up for the deal as long as he has the funds.

#150 i49 in TF2 General Discussion

I don't know about the rest of you guys but I feel like there's tons of new players entering the league lately. The problem is a lot of the older ones have finally had enough. Maybe i46 wasn't useless after all?

#57 tf2 bhopping in TF2 General Discussion

Those bhop plugins are trashy. They make it so easy to do that it's not even skillful. It would also really imbalance CP style of play. For ctf it'd be okay just like in TFC. Imagine a heavy running as fast as a scout.

#66 Incident Wrap-up in TF2 General Discussion
MunchInvite players already get free premium, if they didn't have to pay fees then ESEA would be losing even MORE money on TF2.

We don't get "free premium". It's just included in the overall league cost. We paid $40 for our league fee while you pay like $12. It ends up being the same just about.
