Freezing after 2-3mins

freezing as in not responding (hl2.exe has stopped responding message) or something else?
This used to happen to me a lot before they fixed alt tabbing (would audio loop for 5-10 seconds and then switch). Defragging helps a lot though (piriform defraggler is good)
