#29 Survey of TFTV's DPI and sensitivity in Customization

Sorry to anyone sick of this thread, but heres some updated and new graphs/numbers!
(Again, only windows users for now)

Interesting how the "median" value is the same for soldier demo and medic (I manually checked, twice)...

Number of entries:
Scout: 78
Soldier: 75
Demo: 21
Medic: 19

Mean
Scout: 30.49 cm / 12.0 in
Soldier: 20.55 cm / 8.09 in
Demo: 23.84 cm / 9.39 in
Medic: 16.52 cm / 6.5 in

Median
Scout: 28.96 cm / 11.4 in
Soldier: 17.32 cm / 6.82 in
Demo: 17.32 cm / 6.82 in
Medic: 17.32 cm / 6.82 in

#28 Survey of TFTV's DPI and sensitivity in Customization

Another update! These graphs and statistics dont include Linux users to keep things simpler for now. Really enjoying making these. Feedback is welcome, of course.

Soldier: 73
Demo: 21
Medic: 19

Mean
Scout: 30.73 cm / 12.1 in
Soldier: 20.52 cm / 8.08 in
Demo: 24.61 cm / 9.69 in
Medic: 16.52 cm / 6.5 in

Median
Scout: 29.46 cm / 11.6 in
Soldier: 17.32 cm / 6.82 in
Demo: 23.52 cm / 9.26 in

#25 Survey of TFTV's DPI and sensitivity in Customization

This poll is running on the honors system to some extent. While there isnt much incentive to take advantage of that outside of distorting the accuracy of my graphs, its still enough for some people. I asked for peoples steam ID primarily to avoid duplicate alias names, but also keep out lazy imposters, but it still isnt a large barrier. Hope you can understand. Im enjoying the challenge and any helpful feedback or corrections are welcome.

currently working on adjusting cm/360 for linux users (their sens is half of what it would be on windows) and fixing duplicate entries.

CAP_CREATUREyeah I put in an 8 ingame sens at 400 dpi, i main medic and most definitely do not use a 51 inch per 360

(I'm slicerogue btw)

IDK what to tell you other than the first submission for "slicerogue" had 800 DPI and 0.4 in game sens. The other is 400 DPI and 8 in-game. Doing the best I can to make the best decisions on how to handle small issues like this, but it seems as I fix one issue, and another 2 pop up. c:

#20 Survey of TFTV's DPI and sensitivity in Customization

Heres a quick update:

https://i.imgur.com/qsCm0lo.png

Here are the average cm/360 and in/360 per 6s class so far:
Scout: 32.3 cm / 12.7 in (50 entries)
Soldier: 19.5 cm / 7.7 in (59 entries)
Demo: 29.6 cm / 11.7 in (19 entries)
Medic: 23.8 cm / 9.4 in (15 entries)

Im trying to use pythons matplatlib, which I havent used in years, so its not the best. More and better graphs to come!

Also, if you need to change your entry, you should be able to go back and edit it.

Entries with incorrect steam ID's will be ignored in order to weed out junky entries fyi

Reerowho the fuck put on the form that i have 40 inches per 360 i did not submit this

Is your entry of 800 DPI at 0.5 in-game sens correct? If so, are you using raw mouse input and enhanced pointer precision off? If not, what is your correct DPI/sens?

obmdis there a google sheet somewhere for this data set
I want to see other cool graphs on sens :)

I can share the final spreadsheet once I filter out some garbage entries. Ill also be making more graphs to post here as I get around to it.

peniferousa little project i was doing two months ago to collect mice
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1A1JPm5T1b-KyFHtl_Qvscj46fChc0CN18T-L21HHUOU/edit?usp=sharing

THIS is an amazing sheet, thanks for sharing! Ill get around to making some graphs from this sheet after I finish working graphs from this poll c:

JMaxchillI don't suppose it's possible to get a breakdown of this by class? That distribution looks about right, but it'd be interesting to see how it varied for demos compared to scouts, say

Im working on this rn c:

antlersI'm aware I'm probably the only person that has theirs changed, but there's no option for windows mouse ticks in this. I play with what would look like a higher mouse sens (3.9 ingame 1200 dpi) until you factor in I'm on 5/11

do you use raw mouse input? that should ignore all windows mouse settings from my understanding. I guess I shouldnt have assumed everyone uses raw mouse input, even though everyone should...

prsnim surprised by how many people use 800 dpi i saw in a video that 1600 dpi reduces input lag by some margin.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwf_F2VboFQ
but it prolly depends on the mouse native dpi and not specifically to 1600 dpi

This video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwf_F2VboFQ ?
Somehow I didnt see the link you posted smh ... Very interesting indeed!

KZI scale 3200 dpi on my sensor down to 800 (easier to remember values) to keep the feel of 800 dpi on my desktop while keeping the higher dpi benefits. There wasnt an option for that.

Thanks for sharing that information! I was more interested in peoples cm/360, if there was any correlation to class preference, and how many people have multiple cm/360 for different classes, rather than most common DPI etc. Hard to include options for every parameter/ custom mod people have with their mouse.

Getting straight to the point: Im curious what DPI and in-game sensitivity you guys use. Im not here to discuss what the best cm/360 is, but Im sure some of you are quite opinionated anyways. If you could please spend 1 minute filling out this google form, that would be amazing.

#8 sensitivity issue when i alt-tab in Q/A Help

ngl i thought it was logitech's g hub causing issues. Ive uninstalled that and havent had issues since, but could just be a coincidence :/

edit: def not g hub thats causing it

#42 I got high-ass frametime. How do I reduce it? in Q/A Help
mustardoverlordthis might be an incredibly obvious point and I'm not a tech genius or anything but have you checked for dust buildup inside your laptop, as well as fan curves and stuff like that

I feel like if your frame time is way worse than your frame rate then thermals are prolly the main factor right?

Im pretty sure dust build up would lead to thermal throttling, which would just lower all frame times. I dont think thermals cause most stuttering, but I could be wrong...

#40 I got high-ass frametime. How do I reduce it? in Q/A Help
AimIsADickCapFrameX happens to also record the input latency while recording so that's nice, though I will probably have to test that independently. Keep in mind though that our environments may be different from each other.

I wouldnt trust CapFrameX too much when it comes to measuring input latency. It makes a ton of assumptions. If you want to accurately measure your input latency, youll need external hardware to do that. There are plenty of videos on youtube if thats something youre serious about.

Also, frame time and frame rate are essentially the same measurement, except frame time graphs make stuttering more obvious.

#30 I got high-ass frametime. How do I reduce it? in Q/A Help

also, huge frame time spikes are somewhat normal for a full tf2 server. anything from someone joining your casual queue, multiple ppl joining the server at once, alt-tabbing/shift-tabbing, or even just a cpu/gpu hiccup usually causes these occasional large spikes. my frame times are MUCH better (lower, and more stable) in a 6v6 or even 9v9 server

Im also curious how you measured your "high input latency"...
