I am interested in competitive TF2 for some time now, I watch matches, streams and lurk on TFTV, but I've yet to play competitive 6v6 myself (besides Valve matchmaking, but I think that doesn't really count). I played HL match once as Heavy, but didn't like it because of spam, chaos and slow paced gameplay.

Where to start playing 6v6 in EU, should I try lobbies, pugs, look for open team or maybe FaceIT?

CS:GO is easier to get into than 1.6, but it still has high skill celling and it's 3rd or 4th most popular esport right now.

It's too soon to tell whether or not Overwatch will be a very successful esport, but you can easily tell that CS:GO is far more successful (in terms of popularity, price pools, tournaments) esport than CS 1.6.

IMO competitive TF could really use competitive based sequel on Source 2, however Valve must be careful not to break such important mechanics as rocket jumping or Ubercharge and crit heals.

That Harbleu medic play from i52 is just staple highlight clip for any iSeries related highlight movie, but it's really nice, so I don't complain.

At this point I think that Valve is trying to make sure that nobody will ever play matchmaking again.

Like probably in the next update they will throw out Snakewater, Sunshine, Gullywash and Metalworks and add 2Fort, Dustbowl and Gold Rush.

I played matchmaking because once in a blue moon it could be fun, with good team and good maps. But no they threw out 2 of best matchmaking maps and gave us one map not suited for 6v6 and one just terrible map.

Valve are you listening?! People didn't want to play on Swiftwater and Gorge, Granary and Badlands were good.

If this happened 6 years ago, Valve could experiment with matchmaking, because back then TF2 wasn't dying and people would play matchmaking and give feedback. Right now there is no time for experiments like this because TF2 is losing players and nobody plays matchmaking in its current state, the best Valve could do is to balance weapons that are banned from leagues, fix all bugs and stuff and just take the ruleset and map rotation from leagues.

But they just have to test competitive formats themselves and probably they will test formats until nobody will play matchmaking or TF2.

What a bad season, especially for NA TF2.

Convince Valve to invest money in competitive TF2.

In Overwatch there is a lot of spam though, due to big clip sizes, fast reloads and unlimited ammo. Projectiles are faster than in TF2 and also there are more light effects and shiny stuff.
