Can I play in other tournaments?
You may only play in other tournaments if and when you’ve been eliminated from the TF2 tournament. Keep in mind that the TF2 tournament is only on Saturday, so anything you wish to do on Friday is up to you. There are no tournaments on Sunday.

FAQ – TF2 tournament (DETAILS TENTATIVE)
How can I play in the tournament?
You’ll need to find a team if you haven’t already found one. Keep in mind that the tournament will be 6 vs 6. This thread will have plenty of teams looking for players, so make sure to post here (and don’t forget to include what class you play). If you can’t find a team, there will certainly be pick-up teams made while at the event.
Will there be a buy-in for the tournament?
Yes, it is $5 per person (or $30 per team).
What will the prizes and payout be?
1st Place: 60% of total prize pool + additional prizes TBA
2nd Place: 30% of total prize pool
3rd Place: 10% of total prize pool
I’m interested in sponsoring the tournament with cash and/or prizes. How should I contact you about this?
If you’re interested in sponsoring the tournament, feel free to send me a private message on here or send an email to one of our sponsorship guys: sponsorship@rgblan.org
When is the tournament?
The entirety of the TF2 tournament will be on Saturday. It will start at 11 AM.
What is the format of the tournament?
6 players per team. There will be a group stage (for seeding) followed by double elimination.
What are the rules?
Class-limits (NA rules):
2 Scouts
2 Soldiers
2 Pyros
1 Demoman
1 Heavy
1 Engineer
1 Medic
2 Snipers
2 Spy
Time-limit / win-limit (EU/NA hybrid rules):
30 minute time-limit
If a team wins 5 rounds (or 4 on koth), that team wins.
If the game is tied after 30 minutes, the tiebreaker will be decided by golden cap. If this occurs in group stage, there will be a 10 minute time limit, and if there is no victor by that time, then whoever controls mid is the winner. If this occurs in the double elimination bracket, there will be no time limit for golden cap.
What maps will be in use?
Whatever the current ESEA map pool is at the time.

Post in the thread if you need a team.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask in the thread or PM me.
It's rarely used anymore. As ondkaja mentioned, it was used when LAN centers barely had any desk space. Cooller doesn't use it anymore, and he's probably one of the first people that really made it known.
There's no real advantage to using it, it's just preference (and again, if you lack desk space). I used it for a little while, and maybe 1-2 LANs where I didn't have much space. It kinda hurt my wrist after a while, and typing was very inconvenient. It won't make you better, and any belief where you think it is making you play better is purely psychological.
I'll make a thread when registration is about to go live, which is very soon.
ShiftaTheFragileThis reminds me of something I tested in 2008 as medic. If you pull out your melee, the medic hunches over. If you look in a certain direction (I forget exactly), it's literally impossible to be headshot because your head isn't visible. There wasn't many times where I used this because it's better to just not put yourself in the sights of a sniper (and obviously not helpful against a full-charge body shot).
I mean if you turn away from the sniper and look downwards you can't be headshot, or it's almost impossible. People do that a lot
That's what I said? lol
But what I was trying to say is that with melee out, because medic is hunched over in a certain way, you can look in a specific direction and it's actually impossible to be headshot. Not maybe, not sometimes, but actually impossible.
If melee isn't out, it's possible for a headshot still if you look down and away, just not as large of a hitbox. This is the case for most of the cast.
Twiggyit's a cool twist
the rest of the mechanics in the video are hilarious too especially the taunt trick

KhakiDoes anyone know if there's a demo recording system for QC?
Not yet.
TwiggyI see shade doing kritz to mid a lot.
I wouldn't read into this much, because Shade does what he wants (ie: runs frying pan), which is usually trolling his team a lot of the time, lol. I think this also has a lot to do with Froyo pretty much doing whatever they want and still winning.
But to answer the original question, kritz to mid isn't throwing, it's just risky and a little gimmicky. It can be cool to catch the other team off-guard if they aren't paying attention, but there can be a lot of counter-play to it.
SpyromanceruberchaincluelessI put 2500km on a vehicle none of the mechanics here wanted to safety just so I could get to LAN
don't whine to me about your pinprick dramas ok
I can't tell if that's more or less impressive than flying out to many LANs (including Rewind and Insomnia) to help with everything needed, creating a documentary, doing countless hours of graphic design work (including doing many different revisions of the Ascent logo and basically anything/everything Ascent related), photography, charity work, and countless other things that I'm surely forgetting on her behalf.
I don't know if your goal on TFTV is to play the villain to make your points, but you don't need to be cryptic and/or go on some wild, irrelevant tangent with "lmao i drove a car to a LAN so i dont wanna hear ur drama lmao"
ITT people now realizing that b4nny is stubborn

Among the high profile names who have been let go or left Twitch, many work in or have their roots in esports and competitive gaming. This includes FishStix, Adam Contini, TosspoT, Justin Wong, and Jon Carnage. Unbelievable to me Twitch would compromise its core audience.

FishStix :(
It's dead.
I played DoDs competitively when it first came out, and the primary league was CAL. CAL was very active for DoDs at the time. After CAL died out as whole, some home-brew leagues started up, with one or two being extremely competitive. However, this lasted until like 2009-2010, and I don't think anything serious has maintained itself since then.
I've looked every once in a while since then, and I think you can find a random league with maybe 3 or 4 teams max, but who knows if they are even active. In fact, who knows if the league is even actively managed anymore.
As someone who loves DoD dearly (probably my favorite game), I've thought about this a lot and I'm pretty sure it will only come back when Valve releases a new version (probably with the HL3 engine).
I still join public servers every once in a while to get my fill, and that's probably the best you're going to get, too.
