#5 Refurbished ASUS PG278Q, go for it? in Hardware

G-Sync is only really good for smoothing out games that run at 20-60FPS.

Once you get above that there's not much point.

#233 TF2 benchmarks in TF2 General Discussion

It's easy to make demos.

If someone does make a new demo I would suggest:
-Posting it a new thread for the benchmark results (so as to not confuse any results here)
-Make the demo cover at least 30 seconds of gameplay
-Include at least 19 people in the server on different classes in an area close together.

#9 Cost of fixing a monitor? in Hardware

Those "may not fix it" terms are just legal speak to protect them.

If you pay the $120 they'll fix it.

I doubt you'll be able to find a local shop with the necessary expertise to fix a specialized LCD monitor, especially if one of the internal parts needs to be replaced.

I would pay them to fix it an be happy with my $110 144hz monitor.

#15 CS:GO: Upgrade CPU or GPU? in Hardware

Set the convar engine_no_focus_sleep to 0 if you want a source game to run at the same framerate when it's not maximized or actively selected (in the case of windowed mode).

Honestly you should just be happy with the frames you're getting....

#20 Should I get a new HDD? in Hardware

I would assume that it'll work on 8 just fine too, since 8.1 is just a service pack.

Why don't you install the .1 update anyway??

#18 Should I get a new HDD? in Hardware

You should be able to get the latest drivers working. Up until recently I had a 6870 in one of my systems and it had no issues with them.

Otherwise:
-If windows 7 try disabling aero
-Try closing everything but the game you're playing, I often notice web browsers running videos triggering odd vsync issues

#12 balancing audio in Off Topic

If you're in TF2 you can always change the volume with a console command:

volume .25

This way you don't have to ALT+Tab to use the stupid mixer.
