#43 new years resolutions in Off Topic

Make the time to finish building my house sooner rather than later.
Fully realize the plans I have for the interior rather than building shelves out of cinder blocks.

Stop shutting down women, and open my heart a whole lot more. (Yes, I'm actually that retarded)

DaggerI have stv proof if anyone wants it.

Maybe add Dagger, and take him up on his open offer of an stv?

Merely a suggestion, though.

TwitchTVJohnThat depends on the situation. Was the employee in question a full time staffer or a contractor? If he was under contract, he's not an official employee of the company (This means ESEA can claim that they are not responsible). There's lots of legal crap that can justify the language in that document. Legal verbiage is notorious for being difficult to understand.

Settlement without admission of guilt is very much the standard. The SEC changed their rules a touch after the 2008 crash, but admission of guilt is not required much less even expected outside of that realm. There's no need for technical legal shit at all, and the general public gets basically no information on actual facts. The standard response which the SEC no longer accepted once the economy went to shit was this:

Settlement, no admission of guilt or wrongdoing, press release underlining that, and suggesting regulators are overzealous/incompetent.

lpkane right on track.

#36 does our education system suck? in Off Topic

I was bored of school from grade 5 on. It's too bad apprenticeships aren't what they used to be. Now it's all degrees, certs, tickets, hoops, and shit to do some of the most mundane shit that common sense or just a lack of inbreeding, and a week on the job can teach.

#73 Do you guys play any instruments? in Off Topic

20 years of guitar
17 bass
dabbled in percussion for many years (still cannot play a shaker for shit), banjo, keys, violin, harmonica

I've played in funk, country, blues, soul, rock, bluegrass, reggae, samba, jazz, punk, and probably some other types of bands I can't recall right now. Musical omnivore.

At one point I tried to transition over to music as my sole income, but didn't end up as stoked to get home and pick up an instrument to just play for the fun of it when I was rehearsing, gigging, recording, teaching, or learning songs for other projects 7 days a week. I enjoy music far more if I'm free to explore it largely on my own terms when inspiration strikes.

If I could start over I would play violin, B3 (keys), sax or trumpet. Bass is ridiculously fun though! Piano is probably the most versatile instrument you can play.

#56 Sandbagging in TF2 General Discussion

The definition of sandbagging I know is from the rock climbing world. It's making the difficulty of something out to be much easier than it actually is.

Sandbagger: "You got this bro, it's way easier than the last line! Like soft 5.7"
Sandbaggee: "Sweet! I've never seen a 5.7 off width overhang 20 feet before."
Sandbagger: "There are holds everywhere inside the crack. Just reach deep."
...
Sandbaggee: "My clothes are destroyed, I'm bleeding from everywhere, decked twice, and puked all over myself. You sure it's 5.7?"
Sandbagger: "Heh. Maybe it's 5.8 plus."
Sandbaggee: "Lemme see that fucking guide book."
Sandbagger: "No. You'll bleed all over it."

#9 advice on divorce in Off Topic

While your folks will probably be at odds with each other for a long while, you're definitely old enough that you should have considerable say in where you spend your time. If your folks are in a position where they can still live in the same area, and you can make it to school when staying at either place then there's honestly no reason why you shouldn't be able to split time. Definitely make the effort to have conversations about what is important to YOU even if they are awkward/difficult. If you feel like it would be better for you to spend more time in one household over the other, try to present clear reasoning why it's important to you. I don't know how old your sister is, but if you think she's up for it, talk to her as well.

My parents divorced so long ago I can't even remember, but I do remember splitting a buncha time with more spent at my dad's place (by request) during the school year. It was nice to have the stability of schedule during school, but it wasn't essential.
