Brimstonelook i get this is a Big Deal but do these have to be a new thread every time? you're already updating the main thread every time anyways
Fair enough. The intent is to be extra transparent with the open qualifiers since most of these players have little to no 6s experience so this space gives the opportunity for people to voice any concerns, and not have any surprises when a mystery 'mge' player beats some of the pros.
Two updates!
Send has been selected as the third qualifier for a spot in the main event from the Open Qualifiers
https://www.teamfortress.tv/65817/send-is-pulled-up-as-the-third-qualifier
and Yumyum & Kobe, as leaders of the each group, drafted and seeded players for Day 1. The Round 1 matchups can be found here https://mge.tf/WorldChampionship/2025
Send got 3rd/4th in Qualifier 1, and 2nd in Qualifier 2, which makes him the next in line to be pulled up to the main event of the $5000 1v1 World Championship. Send has been a member of the MGE.tf community for over a year and participated in the early 2v2 cups. He is also 2472 elo on UGC-MGE. We are aware of his ban from 2020 and have discussed the ban with him, and have had no issues with him as a member in our community.

With his original ban being over 5 years ago, he will be allowed to play in the tournament.

Higher just won qualifier #2, the two Open Qualifier spots have been filled
Higher (wqya, 2407 elo) has just secured first place in Qualifier 2
A familiar face in the MGE scene, Higher competed in our third 2v2 MGE Cup over a year ago with Rive. Since then, Higher has been a consistent top placer in our 1v1 events winning first place in the All-Class Tournament (defeating Yumyum in the grand finals), second in the Demo Tournament (losing to Tavion), and second in the Scout Tournament (losing to Yumyum). Now after losing in Qualifier 1 to Hallu in the grand finals, he just won Qualifier 2 and secured a spot in the Main Event.

It's time to see how these two MGE Lords, Hallu and Higher, stack up against 30 of the top 6s players.

Backstory:
I have always loved 1v1 and 2v2 gameplay- I think it's the most epic format in any type of game. I started small in-house 2v2 cups with some open friends (shoutout to Jebus for our first prize pools) which started gaining traction and growing pretty large. When Dolphinrider heard about it, we started planning a league in the background while hosting huge 2v2 cups. I connected with Tommy, owner of the MGE.tf servers and creator of a really cool tournament plugin. Together, we’ve been funding events and building this league from the ground up. Over a year of development later, the site is ready—complete with support for signups, divisions, match tracking, and more.
Now, it’s time to play. May the best MGE Lords win.
