#48 Time for Na & Eu to start using the same ruleset ? in TF2 General Discussion
Re4lityh0b5t3r What if they did 30 mins with first to five instead of win by five?
That is eu ruleset ???

That used to be the eu ruleset, timelimit 30 winlimit 5, it was then changed to timelimit 30 win difference 5

#103 Biannual iseries idea feat. NA in TF2 General Discussion
DarkdwarfWould tying funding and qualification for any event like this to placings in for example ETF2L kill two birds with the same stone?

while that would be a good option the problem is that until the travel cost issue is solved, either through prize pools or just straight up covering the costs, the teams that might "qualify" may not be able to afford or want to go to a lan finals. as can be seen from the online qualifiers for dreamhack.

#49 b4nny LAN? in TF2 General Discussion
Evil_MrMuffinzyeah i don't see why a big NA lan would be hosted in the west coast seeing as most competitive players are east coast

the only reason i can see would be if b4nny is running it, as he is west coast, he might want it on the west

#33 ESEA Season 23 map vote in TF2 General Discussion
DreamboatPersonally i'd vote out Gully, but that is solely due to my hatred of the map.

I'd also consider voting out metalworks (or I guess sunshine) for reckoner in an effort to align the 3 scenes map pools.

There is every chance that by the next international event the map pools will have changed in europe or aus so unless there is going to be an international lan before the next iSeries then there is plenty of time for the game to die, leagues to change map pool

#19 TF2 update for 8/29/16 (8/30/16 UTC) in TF2 General Discussion
rowrowValve- Weapons can no longer be juggled to bypass the weapon's re-fire rate
This, coupled with the ubercharge decay rate; can we expect the picking up dropped weapons to be allowed in S23?

I can't speak for ESEA but at ETF2L we are running a cup to test just that, with the feedback from the cup advising our decisions regarding the weapon pickups

#18 baud's demos in TF2 General Discussion
Phoenix21if that's the case, shouldn't the etf2l team make the demos that people upload for reviews private?
or at the very least delete the demos of players who were caught cheating?
they are still there on your site, I didn't really have to look very deep to find them.

The vast majority of demo requests on ETF2L are not for AC purposes, they are to check people are recording, even if a person is suspected the admin does not just request their demos. This keeps people guessing if they are being investigated or not. Also the leaders of other teams may request demos and making them admin only would prevent that.

#11 baud's demos in TF2 General Discussion

The ETF2L AC team is currently the best tf2 has in terms of anticheat. This is not a bash at the individuals on other ac teams, more a look at the results. Yes the ETF2L team has had a few bad examples which everyone likes to highlight, but also look at the lmaobox ban waves, no active player was banned in etf2l. All previous players who did get banned had all be caught by the ac team already, such as azn.

Compared to ESEA and UGCs AC teams, UGC had several high profile players VAC banned including the Plat winning sniper. I dont know if ESEA has an anticheat team for TF2, given that to my knowledge they have never banned anyone.

Im not saying the ETF2L AC team is perfect, they are far from it, but they are the best tf2 has and the best tf2 can do until we get the resources to develop a client of some kind that is actively maintained similar to the ESEA CSGO system. While i agree more transparency and accountability would be nice, you also have to realise that adding more of those things cannot come at the cost of the AC teams prime objective, which is to stop cheaters.

#2 Valve limiting coaches in CS in CS2 General Discussion
SchweppesAnd forces all cs hosting companies to follow the rule if they want to continue hosting majors

My understanding is that they dont have to use these rules in other 3rd party leagues, ecs, epl etc and they would still be allowed to host majors. However the general trend is to do things the same way valve does, look at nuke, banning of ibp players etc.

#42 The future of tf2 and i58 in The Dumpster
downpourzeSIMONThe sad thing is that OW isn't even a good or better competitve shooter than TF2.
People just leave because of the money :/
I wouldn't be so sad if pro's were leaving for the new Quake or something (if it turns out to be good)
"it must be the money they couldnt possibly leave because of any other reason!!"

While i agree with you that the money isnt the only thing and some people do enjoy overwatch, i would reckon the more money and "fame" that overwatch had was the deciding factor for a lot of people who left tf2. Im sure most still like tf2, im sure most like overwatch, but the deciding factor would be the money. I mean you are deciding between money and playing a video game you enjoy and no money and playing a video game you enjoy. I dont blame them for making the easy choice. I would probably do the same

#6 Ideas for balance changes to weak unlocks in TF2 General Discussion
fightexcept cow mangler/back scatter aren't weak because their main mechanics (infinite ammo/mini crits) are broken as a gameplay mechanic and unless they're nerfed into uselessness they won't be allowed. cow mangler reload penalty was recently fixed anyways, too

Cowmangler is allowed in ETF2L 6s, yet you dont see lots of lazor weapons, suggesting it isnt as op as you think. Also the reload time is still the same it is only the animation that changed.

#30 My Opinion Of The Miniguns in TF2 General Discussion
yttriumI think that finally the Tomislav and Minigun have the same relationship that the Direct Hit and Rocket Launcher have, and that's a wonderful thing.

Clearly the BB, Natascha, and Huo Long need some serious work though.

as ive said before i think tomisalv is more viable for heavy than dh is for solly. Also heavy is in a better place in terms of weapon choices than before the tomislav got buffed but worse now that the natasha isnt really as viable anymore.

The buffs to the tomislav dont really make up for the multiple nerfs that heavy has had over the last years, so heavy is still not a balanced class. he is an easy class but not a class that when you have the skill or option to play other classes you would often pick. I remember watching some old 6s games on viaduct where teams ran heavy instead of a demo on viaduct and i dont think that will happen with the current way the game is balanced with demo getting slightly nerfed and heavy massivly so, along with the increase in the amount of good scouts at the top level. Heavy needs the rework to allow for more skillful play with greater rewards, because atm heavy doesnt reward putting as much work into as other classes, even engie or pyro have more depth to them.

Im not saying heavy isnt fun despite what the majority of people may think on this forum but he isnt a viable class in the majority of situations in community 6s and even less so if you remove class limits. Even on last defence a 2nd engie or demo would do a lot more work for holding the point than a heavy.

#27 My Opinion Of The Miniguns in TF2 General Discussion
ScrambledMiNiStock is better than tomislov in hl, you run into far more close range situations than you do mid range. Also the biggest fault of the tomislov is it is worse at killing shit thats on your combo than stock, which is one of the biggest roles the heavy fills.
I swap between both quite a lot, saying one is better than the other is just plain wrong.

I have to agree with scrambled here, they are equally as good in highlander, heavy you do a lot of mid range harassment with the tomislav which allows you to support your demo at a greater range but not quite as effectively as you can at close range with the stock. You just need to look at plat/prem highlander to see that the tomislav/stock split is very close to 50/50 depending on the map and situation. If the tomislav really was that bad then why is it run so much at the top level?

#30 cp_cardinal (5CP) in Map Discussion

I get this

CMaterialVar::GetVecValue: trying to get a vec value for $envmaptint which is of type 1

spammed in console when i load up the map, it doesnt happen on other maps so i assume it is an issue with cardinal.

Also last feels like it has too many entrances and would be hard to hold, but i would need to play test it to actually confirm or deny that.

edit: the console spam seems to only happen on 2nd points
