tsarWhy though? What's to gain by adding elements of randomization when the entire point of the game is to find which has more skill, not luck with using aids weapons. Not to mention that using aids unlocks (like the quick fix, crit a cola, etc.) ruin that aspect of the game as well.

for these gamemodes, the only weapons that can maybe sit this out are: (both jumper weps) crit a cola, mad milk, jarate, bonk, natasha, vita saw, bazarr bargain, sydney sleeper, razerback, whip, gru, wrangler (maybe the rescue ranger and the vaccinator) just to be fair (more items can be discussed) but at the least id like to have it where if one item is in play, so is the counter

and as for skill, i feel like that majorly revolves around the players and a tad bit around certain items.

what i feel can be gained from this: a match filled with balenced, variety gameplay and entertainment

I THINK IVE HAD AN EPHIPANY

after much thinking ive decided to rework this idea into different mods of the users choice. i call this

the oasis

  • OASIS DAWN the beginning of a round/match temporarly lifts whitelist restrictions. these restrictions are then gradually added back over a set time period untill the standard whitelist is applied again. this will only last the beginning of a round/match
  • HAVENon the third round of a match, whitelist restrictions are lifted for the entire round. after the round is over, whitelist restrictions will be re-applied for the remainder of the match. this will only last for 1 round
  • OASIS DUSKtowards the end of round/match time, whitelist restrictions are lifted momentarily and then re-applied after a short period of time. this will only last for enough time for 1 push and will only be done once
  • SANDSTORMat random periods throughout a match/round, a few random items from the whitelist will be unrestricted for a short period of time. after the time is up, those items will go back to being whitelisted untill it is time again. this will last the entire round/match

ATXOk, I'm not even going to try to tell you why your idea isn't going to work, cause the same shit seems to have been said for like 4 pages. Why don't you recognize that if your idea was good, people would actually accept it? Good players aren't going to shit on you purely because you're not as good or inexperienced but have a good idea. Maybe you should realize that it's not a good idea. I mean, if you're thinking about making it a mod, why not code it yourself? Quite frankly right now, you're only worsening your reputation and perhaps you already see that.

thanks to these suggestion, im gonna look into making this some type of mod/plugin, even though it probably wont even be given the chance to be put into 6's. and i dont see how im worsining my rep, i didnt come here to argue with everyone, i just wanted a small discussion. people are treating this like im trying to make this a permanent standard for 6's, im just listing a whitelist alternative

i agree, but while valve is working on that this could possible be a substitute. if i had the power to balance every item and fix the game, believe me i would.
Naw dude, we already found a possible substitute that works with what Highclass said. Because you see, yesterday we had this "Global Whitelist" meeting(you should've been there!), and the whitelist is a thing that gets rid of the imbalanced/broken weapons and keeps in the balanced ones!!! So no worries dude, we got you bro, with this whitelist, we'll have reasonably balanced weapons for the full duration of a video game competition.

No need for timers, timers would just allow imbalanced/broken weapons in the first place! But with this magical whitelist created by people who happened to be online at the time, we can just NOT allow it whatsoever to achieve the goal that you and I agree on :)

im just making this as a suggestion as an alternative to the whitelist. i also feel like it would heavily sort out what items could be re-worked into the whitelist over time. maybe this gamemode/plugin could be used not for op items, but for items that are questionable for unbanning/testing. but i understand what you're saying :D

i feel like this guy is on the right track. ive looked over a few discussions and have come up with 3 scenarios

1: the first or last 2 rounds of a match could be an item free for all, balancing a game for both tactical and open play

2: the first few mins of a match could start out with all items then gradually shift to whitelist standards in a reasonable time period

3:for every round you get maybe 2-3 times to use an item that isnt whitelisted (death and resubs can apply, its debatable)

i feel like this could be used as another option besides whitelist, that way every item can be played in an equal and fair manner. opening up the posibilities for more exciting, fun games filled with toe-to-toe action while also showing valve that we can work with what they have.

the tf2 community is full of experienced, talented people, so many mods have been made for this game that im sure we can come up with something new.

getting the newbies used to it might take a min, but it wouldnt be hard to learn, especially with pro players.
