Use whatever you prefer. I personally prefer the look of dx8 and have gotten used to it. I also get higher frame counts in mastercoms' benchmark in dx8 even on a modern high-end PC, though this doesn't mean my game will technically be running "better" compared to if I was playing in dx9 - According to mastercoms dx9 usually has better resource utilization, which consequently gives you a smoother and more responsive game. I've switched between the two many times and don't really feel any noticeable difference other than aesthetics honestly.

As for Soldier vs Scout, it really doesn't matter. If the Scout is always approaching you from mid-range its a winning matchup for the soldier regardless of the map or loadout. If you're playing soldier and are shotgun switching however, you can only lose if you're whiffing like crazy or if the scout decides to play super defensive and is able to outplay you by hiding around corners/chipping at you from a distance, which is not possible on the smaller maps. Shotgun switching in my opinion is super counter-productive for both players, anything else is acceptable and effective practice in my opinion.
Everybody fails, though failure is not a bad thing. You can't blame yourself if you've tried your best, that's what really counts. In all the hobbies that I've been recently enjoying, failure never brings me down. In practice, I've become too focused and engrossed in the present to care about all the times that I've messed up. I still have hobbies that I want to try and would enjoy though I still struggle to find my mind in the present when doing these activities. It's difficult - and stress targets the past and the future - reminding you of your failures or pressuring you into thinking that you might fail. My advice is to be mindful of your surroundings, take a step back and absorb the world around you. What gives you responsibility? What makes you want to get up and move forward and do something positive without thinking too much about the possibility of not succeeding? For me at the moment, it's doing low intensity walks instead of going to the gym and doing high intensity strength training. I don't need to worry about my form for instance, or how much weight I'm lifting, or if I should have tried harder on the previous set. Just throwing in my two cents, I hope this helped a little.
This man has guilt written all over him.
Thank you for the response :D
Unfortunately I was not aware of what happened with the i65 VODs until now. However, I'm glad that they weren't lost and that my general feedback has been noted.
Since KritzKast has recently been criticised for being rather tardy with regards to uploading their Twitch VODs on YouTube, I would therefore like to request that the EssentialsTF Twitch channel should also revise their schedule for carrying out such procedures. The VODs for i65 for example, were uploaded about 7 months after the event had taken place and was streamed. I believe the community will greatly appreciate any further efforts concerning Essentials and their YouTube VODs, whether it would be transferring coverage of either online or offline matches from the past. Thanks for reading, I give my respects to the Essentials team and their associates.

I know we've all seen this clip, but this is such a precious little moment between two friends.
Laughter is beautiful and can be shared unanimously. People who make you laugh are treasures :)
Incredibly sad to hear. My deepest condolences to all his family and friends.
Honestly depends on your system but for me clean textures hurts my FPS badly, I used the mastercomfig benchmark to determine if they were worth using and since I lost a significant amount of frames, I decided against it. As for LOD bias, I would stay away from that if you're looking to maximise performance as well since as mentioned above, it has no performance benefits and in my case I noticed a small but noticeable decrease in FPS using the aforementioned benchmark.
