#74 CEVO Moveup Info in TF2 General Discussion
joddQuindaliFor scheduling in OPEN it is based off record match by match. For MAIN the entire regular season schedule has already been posted-- round robin.
not sure if this has been discussed - I certainly don't understand it - but why the disparity for scheduling between the divisions? wouldn't it make even more sense to schedule based on record in CEVO-M when you've lumped open/IM teams into a division against some of the game's top teams?

To follow up on this, ESEA's scheduling was actually pretty nice. In the second half of the season if you were a high-ranked team you played MORE higher ranked team rather than a random assortment of the open teams. Is this what the plan is?

KhakiTheFragilebasik holds the Xbox LIVE record for ranked kills in a single match by finding a way to spawn watermelons and blowing them up.I wasn't sure what to think when the first thing I learned about Basik after making a tf2 team with him was that he was like the at the #1 rank on the 360 leaderboards

turns out first impressions aren't always accurate

Basik told me people still add him every week and ask him about it.

Pretty much, this. It's a shame there's only 8 episodes instead of 12 or 13, but the with the way it's written I've gotta imagine it would be hard to get an extra 5 hours of QUALITY writing. I'd rather have 8 amazing episodes instead of 13 episodes all with 12 minutes of completely useless filler.

defyMagusYeah, show's incredible. The way they did the last 8 minutes of episode 4 all in one shot was pretty genius, and it fit with the plot line of the episode perfectly. The writing is great, definitely. I've heard that since it's an anthology, Matthew and Woody won't be back next season as it'll be a completely new case. I hope that's not what happens because those two have great on-screen chemistry.

Either way, it's a great show, would recommend.

The thing is, Woody and McConaughey are both executive producers. They said it would be similar to American Horror Story, and while half of the cast changes each season, many have been on each season, some being the central characters every time. I expect both of them to stay on, but may or may not be the main characters, maybe playing antagonists or who knows what.

Yes, I really hope this is true. I knew they were EPs but I just wasn't sure if they said they were going to do the show after this season because I just heard that the writer hadn't "signed" any cast yet for the next season (making a point of talking about a new cast). However, in that same interview he talked about some other "stories" he would like to tell in the True Detective universe and they sounded really cool. For example:

There could be a season that’s much more of a widespread conspiracy thriller, a season that’s a small‑town murder mystery, a season where nobody is murdered and it’s a master criminal versus a rogue detective or something. Even the title, True Detective, is meant to be, of course, purposefully somewhat generic – the word “true” can also mean honorable and authentic and things like that. So as long as there is some crime in there, I think the series format can approach it.

ArgoThe day Matthew Mcconaughey started taking serious roles was a great day for film and TV. This guy is such an incredible actor and he and Harrelson have really good chemistry. And yea the music is a big part of the shows feel for me. T Bone Burnett who does the score and all the music work also works with the Coen brothers on all of their films, and with that droning music and those scenic shots of the Louisiana landscape I definitely get bits and pieces of a No Country for Old Men vibe when I watch this show.

The scene last night where they're retelling their version of the "shootout" over the backdrop of what actually happened was so well done. Their fake stories line up word for word so you know somethings going to go wrong enough that they had to make something up, but you're not sure what until Marty sees the kids offscreen and pops Ledoux. Incredible.

Also Alexandra Daddario holy shit I think I'm in love.

Yeah this pretty much sums it up. The music for the show is great and there are DEFINITELY No Country for Old Men vibes. There's a ton of little things wrapped in to the show that make it even more twisted and deep (proof of the excellent writing) such as

The Yellow King and the Black Stars rising are all part of the same short story. So this proves that La Doux probably knew who the Yellow King was and was in part involved with him. We'll see how this season plays out though!

marmadukeGRYLLSMagusOkay, calming down and being rational, if you replaced CEVO with ESEA in that last topic could you honestly see why I think you're being a bit hypocritical?

As far as telling people to leave CEVO and refund, I didn't mean you said that I meant Killing.

because we've been provided with a league to play in, a lan, stats, an actual anti-cheat (lol paladin), and although mediocre still existent admin support. until you have seasons of experience with cevo under your belt you're not really in a place to comment it and all that encompasses it.

But I do have seasons of CEVO under my belt. And TWL. And ESEA. And alienware arena. Don't just assume I don't know what I'm talking about. I remember the shitty client that CEVO had, but I never personally had a problem with their admins.

However, that's all a moot point because CEVO has changed ownership now.

Again, though, you're ignoring my point. If you replaced CEVO with ESEA in that snip you posted would it not be the same argument the other way around? Trusting ESEA now and trusting ESEA in the future is two vastly different things.

marmadukeGRYLLSyou do realize that cevo listening to us and cevo following through (now and in the future) are two entirely different things, yes? they have had the opportunity to be our league of choice in the past and dropped the ball. why should we give them the benefit of the doubt now?

marmadukeGRYLLSand that's great that they show promise. let's support them (if you/your team has time for two leagues) while we keep esea as our main league. 2 seasons from now if we've seen them continue to improve and build from the first season, yeah let's give it a go. i just honestly don't understand how people are saying "let's go to cevo!" when they've BEEN OUR MAIN LEAGUE before and we all left for esea. this isn't a brand new league, this is a league with a history just as sketchy as esea's.

and the only complaint being the client is "really shitty" is kind of a big deal, no? I remember fps getting raped and being unable to "check in" and start matches, and pleading with the other team to reschedule/wait/not FFW you while you waited for an admin to potentially help you with the issue.

Yeah because the ESEA client has been foolproof at not only cooperating, but actually catching cheaters. I'm over this thread, I'm over the -frag brigade that adds no valuable facts to the conversation. The IQ in this community has taken a nosedive in recent history, and I hope you're all happy with where it gets you.
