I think valve has been making good balance changes across the last two updates and this update sets the foundation for what they've been talking about for years: data-based decisions. Matchmaking and ranked pubs will let them collect tons of data around what weapons are used by winning teams and what weapons are used by losing teams. Which weapons are used by good players and which are used by bad ones. Which maps people rage quit (gorge) and which ones people play even when they lose.
Give it time.
p.s. I don't agree with the medic change either. Medic is so strong that you have it in every team comp and in matchmaking sometimes two. I think they've been buffing it because they want people to play it more in matchmaking and these regen/movement speed buffs make it more approachable to play which is ultimately what we want -- more medics in matchmaking.
OsirisI'm happy matchmaking is now part of the game and I'm sure this will not be the last competitively significant update, but my gut still tells me that something is missing in Valve's mindset...
Yeah man their plan is to take all of the data from thousands and thousands of matchmaking games to shape the 6v6 ruleset moving forward.
You forgot to put no highlander under good news.
I live on top of two pokestops so I've just been spinning them even 5 minutes lol
Too lazy to go outside.
I messed up and added the wrong link. My apologies! Fixed now.
You don't have to make a new channel but for the TFTV sidebar we'll want you to use a different username yeah.
You realize your name kind of sounds like a derogitory term for hispanic people?
yeah sorry i didn't really talk much about the update in the video; i told them i wouldn't talk about the specifics and we're all going to play it soon enough anyways. what i will say is that the update is SICK like i've never been more pumped about TF2 after seeing it, and as a comp TF2 streamer i'm excited to have tons of content to play through. for me i don't really care if i'm stomping in pubs or whatever, i just liked having contracts to complete and levels to play for. pugchamp does that for me with the elo system, and the matchmaking update will give the community something to play for too so look forward to that.
i'm interested to know what you guys think about rulesets and the like for the higher level comp leagues. we've been talking about this for a while, and if the valve game is different from our game, we may need to reconcile the rulesets so that people who play matchmaking are playing the same game we're playing. weapon bans have been used by the competitive community to deal with balancing issues, but we've already seen the developers making changes to the weapons in the tough break update. do you guys see ESEA / ETF2L moving towards a no-whitelist system? how long will it take for that to happen?
