#37 i61 tickets out now in TF2 General Discussion
Scruff_Is there a big difference in terms of which byoc ticket to get, like is byoc plus worth it for the cost difference? Any advice appreciated

Byoc plus will get you in on the Thursday a day early, definitely worth getting to stay the extra day so you don't have to set up on the Friday. A lot of people get there Thursday too and recommend it

Edit: getting there on the thursday also means you can be 1 of the first in to the exhibition hall on the Friday to look at the stools when it's quiet

#3 Insomnia LAN Budget? in LAN Discussion
Maxi-£100 for BYOC ticket - I think these have gone up from i55 due to new location - would also suggest EAS
PC was like £120 for the 144hz pc rental
Food/drink is expensive unless you have a buddy with a car, then there's an asda bout 10 minute drive away.
Drink are like £2, food is like £5+ and pretty grim, unless you go subway.
Then there's some food trucks that sell fish & chips or hotdogs for closer to £10

Hotel you can split; we did a family room (double bed, single bed, sofa bed) last year for about £220 overall and split between 4 people.
Cheapest I could find was travellodge on the other side of the airport for a 3 adult/family room for about £180

Additionally to this, you could save money by camping instead which was cheap, what I did last time and will be again. Would also recommend getting the early access pass (so you go on Thursday) which was another £20. If you can't get a lift to Asda then I'd advise also bringing bottles of drink for the weekend and try to keep some sandwiches or something for lunches. Its a bit of a walk but there were restaurants like Nando's outside the venue which are much better value. The subway there was expensive and that was the cheapest place to go for anything

#4 TF2pickup dm servers offline? in TF2 General Discussion

This may sound stupid, but can the elo system be recreated/linked to the server? The elo doesn't really matter ik, but it was a nice unique feature to the pickup servers with the stats and such

#15 How can I improve at meat shots? in TF2 General Discussion

you say about losing at really close range when you have done more damage, you could try not to walk really close to the guy in this case and instead finish the kill in a place he can't deal 100 damage to you. Other than that practice

#5 Mentoring a team in TF2 General Discussion
CrayonNo offence but I don't think you're experienced enough to be mentoring teams. You've just played your first season of high in the which you came bottom half and didn't even play all the officials. Your team also was scrimming at least one top mid team and were quite evenly matched so I don't really know how you could mentor a team of that level if you aren't far beyond that level yourself.

I'm simply offering help to any team that feel like they need it... As in a bottom mid team that are struggling with simple things. I know a tonne of people who do this for lower teams of my level which benefit from this.

I see your point, but I don't feel like there is anything wrong with that considering whenever I've merced for a teams they have felt that advice I have given is useful and would want more...

Plus, the skill of a team doesn't always equivalate to individual performance too or game knowledge.

To quote what I have put:
'People may doubt me for putting this post up, but this is just in case anyone would like help from me :)'

In other words, if you don't understand that, I feel I can offer help in a constructive way and this would be good for me and others. Evidently you don't think so, so good for you

#1 Mentoring a team in TF2 General Discussion

Hello everyone

With s26 just finishing, I no longer have a team for the time being and would like something to do apart from schoolwork now and then. So would like to mentor a team that will be playing s27

A player helped me and my team out last season for a couple weeks, and we all found it really beneficial although it didn't come to improving our result on officials. I'd like to do the same for another team but over a longer period of time and focus on things during the offseason.

Oh and for anyone that doesn't know me or know of me here's my etf2l http://etf2l.org/forum/user/109753/

Here's the checklist so to speak of who I'm wanting to mentor as a team:

1) should be obvious, to use a cleche, keen to improve as individuals and as a team

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BIG POINTS
2) A mid team, or an open that feel they have potential
3) a FULL team that has experience of at least 1 season at this level, 5 players is ok as well if youre in the process of looking for someone
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4) a team that has the intention of playing in the offseason at least twice a week
5) a team that can dedicate an evening/time during the day on the weekends (at least 3 people every week)
6) a team that's problem isn't bad DM
I'll explain again, sometimes a team can be intelligent but have bad DM, don't think that I can help a team who are just mechanically bad
7) a team that are open to criticism, I don't want to argue with you getting nowhere

People may doubt me for putting this post up, but this is just in case anyone would like help from me :)

Inside the team, I would also like to focus on helping to improve the medic as well as the two scouts as players individually, since I have experience here. For soldiers and demos I can't really assist them that well.

But yeah there's a lot of typing there, but if you feel like your team would like some assistance and meet the majority of the checklist then do post your team below and I'll add your leader on steam in a couple of days.

ADDITIONALLY if there are any people that would like to improve alone as a player that I know and like then feel free to message me on steam and I can do that too

Cheers

I'll explain why, I feel like people below this rank simply don't have enough experience and don't learn from their mistakes anywhere near as much as those with more experience
3) a FULL team that has experience of at least 1 season at this level, 5 players is ok as well if youre in the process of looking for someone
