shorasI don't think any nerf would make syringe guns a real alternative without changing the whole concept of the crossbow (like completely removing the ability to heal).

They could do a passive downside like the blutsauger has. It was also really unpopular before it had passive reload but that shit was miserable.

I don't think people quitting is the (most important) issue, I think it's that the influx of new players is too low, because the game is not similar enough to the normal games (pubs) and that's why tf2 esports will never take off.

why do people still even make this argument. Like is there any precedent at all? I can think of several games that had a community competitive scene that had a custom ruleset which was replaced or adopted by devs when they started supporting the game. But i honestly cant think of any that saw reasonable growth by pubbifying their game before that happened.

Considering tf2s position of being a decade old game with no dev support and a very casual reputation, its had a very successful run. Overwatchs release did more to stunt growth than anything the comp community's done. Anyone who gives half a fuck about wanting to play a more casual competitive mode has already switched over.

i remember a lot of people being upset with the uber building of crossbows simply because it was more efficient than using the medigun.

regardless its kind of silly to compare the sentiment now to before or even shortly after its buff. There wasnt any precedent for frequent xbow usage until after it gave uber. people didnt adjust their playstyles to the new crossbow mechanics instantly and it was only after the meta settled when people started saying they didnt like how it affected the game.

what do you expect from this community it's full of people who think that their way is the best way and whenever someone says "maybe your way isn't the best way" they either ignore them or shit on them

until valve actually starts putting money into this and taking over, then the only factor that really matters for competitive rules is what people think would make the game more fun. and the people whove poured years into comp tf2 kinda earn themselves a bit more influence.

like its not hail the invite illuminati or whatever but there needs to be some kind of purpose for going against what current players want. cant expect people to bend over to appease people who probably wouldnt even play comp for more than a season anyway.

yeah. it was nice to do the global whitelist thing just to normalize the ruleset and tidy up esea's bans, but aside from that theres no inherant value in something being unbanned. the playercounts didnt go up, hell even the sentiment towards 6s on reddit and the like is still shit. if valves ever gonna support competitive then people constantly shitting on how unfun the game is will hurt things more than a few more weapon bans.

i mean a lot of tf2s original design philosophy is about switching classes based on the situation as well as mixing them to cover teammates. It may be a little outdated but theres a lot of stuff in the game thats obviously meant to give a huge advantage over certain classes.

Anyway my biggest problem with minis is just the flinch. They can honestly get gunned down super fast as any class but its a lot harder when theres no way to fight it or anyone nearby without your aim having a seizure.

that audio is fucking atrocious.

i couldnt even tell he had a hitsound until 1:30 when he actually hit someone without the announcer or some guns echo drowning it out.

the visuals are kinda ass but im being optimistic and assuming gore/particles can be reduced and hopefully the hud modifiable. but i wouldnt expect as many sound options so if thats fucked up it honestly turns me off the game quite a bit in itself.

i at least hope they let us turn off that ambience cuz it sounds like they recorded a washing machine for background noise.
