#8 Razer - 50% sale (30% for systems) in Hardware

Is there a difference between the chroma and the standard blackwidow besides fancier lighting?

I'm interested in getting a mechanical keyboard but I don't really want to spend $30 extra on just LEDs.

#40 New ESEA Whitelist in TF2 General Discussion
ZZWhy, out of ALL the taunts, is Meet the Medic the only one that's allowed?

Probably just because it was released before most of the other taunts. The ESEA whitelist hasn't been updated since Summer 2013.

6cuties has 0 people on their IM roster. I don't know the particulars of the mutiny rule or other roster rules but is it possible to just get the join password from any one of the many former members then take over the roster as the only one on it?

Just like I will have good timing for bombing the enemy combo if I play for your open team

pandurrrThis guy is really something else. It's pretty unbelievable. I've literally never seen anyone so hellbent on improving in this game and slowly climbing the ladder, even in the face of opposition. I've known him for a pretty long time and he never possesses any malicious intent, never argues nor quarrels. His natural demeanor is that of a calm dude who really just wants to play videogames with people who harbor the same enthusiasm. I will say that his DM may not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but Iso has a lot of free time to sharpen his knives. This is a good dude, this is a nice dude, he is a dude who will fight for your team and fight for you (with a knife).

I love that you didn't change my name from that post.

#1 Open Soldier in Recruitment (looking for team)

EDIT: I am not currently LFT, anyone who bumps this thread is a troll

ESEA League Season 18 registration ends in 2 Days, 9 Hours, 24 Minutes, 26 Seconds.

This thread is very procrastinated but maybe it will find a team it will be useful to before the deadline.
I've had a few open tryouts over the last month or so. Some of them went well, some of them didn't, but for better or worse I am still here.

Experience:
I've been in UGC longer than anyone really should. I checked my player profile and I've played in 10 seasons there if you count 6s and HL separately. I have played at least 1 match in every* division of ugc 6s from steel up to platinum and I would like to move to a more serious league.
For other notable experience, I've been a regular at a few inhouse pug groups that typically have open-level players for the last 2(!) years now. These pugs are actually a point of concern for me because this lft thread will probably attract people to post stories about dumb things I did at various times during these pugs.

Other details:
-I can play pocket or roamer but I'm better at roamer than I am at pocket.
-I can and will pay my own league fees as soon as I can join your roster.
-I think I have enough dm and gamesense to do okay at a middish open level.
-I am willing to put in a lot of time and effort to improve throughout the season as needed
-I am available nearly every day during any remotely sane scrim hours

this has not been a shortened offseason fyi

the issues with talent filtering down only goes to about mid IM. Below that you've had plenty of time to run tryouts and scrim as a team

There are more than 50 teams in open right now. Nobody is worried about open's numbers anymore, at least in the short term. The whole reason for panic in the later half of this thread is that there aren't enough mid IM+ teams ready to start the season.

SpaceCadetI never understand why people wait so long to pay a cheap league fee. I could understand if it was $99.95 to play but it's not. Stop fucking blaming the "holiday season" for not having 15 dollars in your paypal account.

If you plan to play this season, go pay your fucking league fees. 2 fucking days left. If you have a job then its easy to get paid up you have the money. If you are a child, go tell mommy and daddy your Christmas gifts were not that great this year. They will feel bad and then you ask for the league fee. DONE

It's really not about being so poor that you can't pay $15; that only applies to a very small minority of the players here.

Most people aren't willing to drop money for a team unless they are certain that them and their teammates will work well together and the team isn't going to die from ragequitters after losing their first 2 matches. This means that the team will want to have a good number of scrims under their belt with their full lineup before paying, which many teams haven't had the chance to do because of the short offseason. Mathematically, getting the lowest chance of wasting money on a dead team means paying up as late as possible at the deadline, which players have historically always done unless esea makes passive-aggressive threats about killing the entire game.

edit: I just realized this post is indirectly arguing against anyone picking me up for this season. OPEN TEAMS I AM NOT A TEAM KILLER I PROMISE.

Alright. Also, another thought, you guys should play the same maps as ESEA. More people will play UGC and take it seriously if it mirrors ESEA because people are already practicing for ESEA. I don't know if you guys would be willing to up the amount of matches per week.

Adding a more matches per week would be a terrible idea. Unlike what much of tftv thinks, the target audiences for ESEA and UGC (especially lower divisions) are different groups of people. Many of the more casual teams and players in UGC would leave because of time constraints if made to play 2 matches per week, especially if the default match time stays as rigid as it is now. This might not sound like a huge loss at first but most players who go on to higher level leagues like ESEA start out on these casual teams.

This is anecdotal, but when I asked some friends who play tf2 pubs often why they don't play comp tf2, the most common answer was that they didn't have enough free time to commit to it. Effectively doubling the necessary time commitment for entry-level players could cause our already wavering playerbase to shrink heavily.
