#59 ETF2L Ban Policy in TF2 General Discussion

As far as I'm aware the only previous 5-year ban was for Clootie who was caught DDOSing/attempting to DDOS an ETF2L player; when confronted Clootie showed no remorse and in the face of insurmountable evidence denied the allegations (I seem to recall he was resolved to do it again). The 5-year ban effectively made an example out of him, back when multiple players/games were being targetted by DDOS attacks, DDOSing would ABSOLUTELY not be tolerated.

I hope that this ban will have been internally discussed and debated, with admins taking into account their own emotional bias. Ban lengths are complicated; there is no equation for working out how long a player should be banned, and the court of public opinion is always going to debate the length. I have always been a champion for the admins, it is a continually thankless role and it is easy to forget that these volunteers are human too, making what they believe to be the best decisions with the resources they have; they can act emotionally and are justified to be upset by the crass words of an immature player. The loss of a friend is an incredibly difficult thing to process, I hope everyone is giving themselves the time they need to mourn.

I don't think anyone will/should/can defend the words of Little Nyar, I do however believe that people can mature and learn from their mistakes and a 5-year ban does not leave any room to do that, as others have said it is effectively permanent forced extradition from our community. Perhaps Little Nyar can reflect on their actions, write an apology to the community and then the ETF2L admins can review what appears to be a very harsh punishment. Regardless and if the ban stands, it will be good for Little Nyar to internally reflect and understand that although we are an online community we are a part of the real world and therefore subject to the consequences of our actions.

#20 Biggest upset in comp f2 history in TF2 General Discussion

Epsilon dropping a point to Lowpander. Epsilon were the powerhouse of Europe (Knoxxx, Raymon, Kiler4fun, bash, numlocked and Mike) hadn't dropped a point outside of grand finals in 5 ETF2L seasons and Lowpander (a team of highlander mains) were considered one of the worst teams in Prem.

#186 My Story With Dashner: A Thread in TF2 General Discussion
FuxxThat's precisely why we need to respect and support anyone who comes out to their fullest extent and give a good old asskicking to anyone who doesn't.Fuxxprevious victims included, is partially responsible for any abuses that follow.FuxxI am not blaming any victim, nor was it ever my intention.

I'm not sure if this is imprecise of use of language but it certainly reads as if you are blaming victims.

FuxxDo you agree with me on this?

I think your overall argument is reductive and removes humanity from the equation, there are numerous and valid reasons that a victim would not want to reveal the name of their attacker/abuser including, but not limited to- shame, fear of consequences, lack of confidence and a lack of information (due to intoxication). Treating these partial disclosures as a problem to be solved isn't what the community needs; All disclosures should be encouraged and supported.

FuxxIf no one speaks up then it logically follows that anyone who's aware of the situation, previous victims included, is partially responsible for any abuses that follow.

Either you are being particularly obtuse or you have an inordinate lack of empathy. Coming forward takes an extraordinary amount of courage and normally lies at the end of a long and hard process of coming to terms with what has happened, especially when the attacker is someone that the victim trusted. I implore you to stop posting, blaming the victim for not speaking out sooner is abhorrent and actively discourages others who have remained quiet from coming forward.

For those who have been victims of sexual violence there are charities and support networks for you to speak about your experiences in a safe space.

#24 Your Greatest Achievement? in Off Topic

After dropping out of Uni due to social anxiety I spent a year unemployed living with my parents. I then, on my therapists suggestion, started volunteering at a charity HQ for a rare disease in London, after 3 months of volunteering they offered me a full time junior position, last month I was offered a senior policy position within that same Charity.

Today is my 3 year anniversary of joining as a volunteer- 4 years ago I thought my life was over, today I am proud to be me.

That looked too easy for OG. Insane play all round.

I cant imagine the international will be going back to China any time soon. This crowd is just vacant -I've never seen an e-sports crowd so unwilling to cheer foreign teams.

Zestygink will win.. jay cant move his arm further than 2 inches

Does this not mean Jay becomes the immovable object of arm wrestling? No matter how hard Gink pushes Jay's arm will be locked 2 inches from its starting position...
