4 week old thread but this is quality
Yeah I’m sorry but I’m just wondering what you are going through I know you are a lot better and I know that you’re not really good enough for you and you know what you do and you don’t want me going back on your way home and then you have a lot to worry too and you have a good day I’ll talk later
Holy shit predictive text spam is funny
Muddyfudgerboth I (and Grape Juice) correctly cited the lack of roster stability as the problem that crippled our performance
alright, hold the phone buddy. I DID say that roster issues are a credible source of poor performance, but I only meant over a short period of time. (that's on me, i worded that differently than i intended)
Here's another anecdote:
s25, week 8, fygg went to Minnesota for a week and was unable to play for us during that time. We moved Ambroon to demo and picked up n3 to fill ambroon's spot. the first few days of that week of scrimming we were having difficulty adjusting to the lack of calls that fygg usually provided, as well as Phantom and Megaboy needing to get used to an entirely new combo scout. by the end of that week we had an extremely close match against Space Helicopter (Unskilled, mak, jaguar, slicerogue, kohly, legit), a team that, correct me if i'm wrong, stayed the same all season, and a team that we did pretty decent against in scrims throughout the season.
in this story, we bounced back and got our shit together in a span of an entire week of scrimming.
you're claiming that your roster in s26, that was different from the one in s25, did about the same as the one from s25 because it was different. unless every single week shit goes wrong then your story does not make sense, and judging by your roster history you had a roster change an average of .5 times a week, or, once every 2 weeks.
If everyone here hasn't convinced you yet, I hope this shitty analogy will.
Let's say you think that your looks are about an 8/10.
You anonymously poll 1000 girls and ask them to rate you /10.
90% of girls say that you range from a 6-7/10.
10% say 7+/10.
guess what buddy, you're a 6-7 out of ten.
If you want to take this awful analogy into TF2 let's do it
You think you're around a low-mid IM level
an overwhelming amount of people around or above a low IM level call you mid open.
guess what, you're not low IM.
If you don't learn this now, you never will. Please drop the b.s. and get real with yourself.
MenachemWhy is this fair? It's a league the player chooses to participate in. It's no different than buying a cosmetic. Hell, you have to pay to get the Tip of the Hats medal.

MuddyFudgerstuff
muddy, maybe if you wanted to go mid open you wouldn't start fresh with a totally new roster every season
rant incoming: on top of starting fresh rosters every season resulting in his lack of success, I don't think he's very open minded about about map reviews and stuff like that. I remember changing so much stuff in his Snakewater powerpoint when i tried out for their team before s26 and he was very prompt to dismiss what i had to say, and how i could improve their holds, in that snakewater scrim they rang Slicerogue on demo and he did quite well, but when i played the 10:30 with them he shit talked slicerogue and blamed him for them losing like 5-3 or something, even though a) he was not at all comfortable playing demo and b) despite point a) was actually a better demo than the rest of the tryouts were at their classes, as well as better than muddy on pocket.
overall: if you're like mid open (2 div) then i'd suggest picking him up because he's hella dedicated and wants to learn, but at the same time I dont think he's currently open minded enough to actually search for and use any advice that he is given.
KevinIsPwnI played in UGC for several months before learning p much anything about ESEA/ETF2L/TFTV/etc. I'm not the only one.
lol I watched a bunch of frag videos of top players for months of me finding out about comp tf2 and I though HL was THE game mode for comp tf2. I though these players (like ma3la, and grape) were UGC Plat 6s, when i found out they were playing 6v6 and not highlander.
part of the reason for my obliviousness was I saw lots of players in game with UGC participation and placement medals and so i just thought UGC was the place to go for comp TF2
anecdote aside, i agree with people like Kevin, new players aren't very likely to know what ESEA is
tuskwhere sequel solomong
SolomonIn order that I do not disappoint anybody, I will allow some time for clips to collect before I make part 2.
