#83 Monthly RGL Is Bad Thread in TF2 General Discussion
seven1The only reason I still pay up is because RGL is less of a meme than UGC, which of course is kinda funny. We should honestly talk more with UGC and start moving there until RGL stops virtue signaling and actually does work.

EDIT: Like at this point RGL has no real incentive to get better because everyone who wants to play at a high level of competition uses RGL and not UGC with no questions asked. We should hold them more accountable and leave when stuff like this happens. The only reason there isnt a high level of play at UGC is because WE CHOOSE to play in RGL. Imagine if ESEA never became a thing. UGC would be the hub of 6s and there would be high level of play. We should stop giving our money and time to places like RGL that just continuously ignore the community and do whatever they want in a dictatorial fashion with the occasional PR stunt.

UGC is, and will always try our best to listen to community feedback regarding the areas we can improve in as a league to provide a better experience within. That being said, no league is perfect and RGL does provide a very user-friendly and enjoyable experience (for most people at least). Every league has its shortcomings, UGC included, and hopefully, as time goes on, more and more people will realize that the bulk of the issues surrounding UGC arise from the smaller team counts and not underlying issues regarding administrative decisions/community engagement. I believe that league v. league drama is counterproductive to the longevity and overall betterment of our community, but I hope that whichever league retains a majority of the player base understands that their decisions not only impact the players within their league, but also the players of TF2 as a whole. I do hope people start to realize that there is less of a vacuum regarding where players can obtain their competitive TF2 fix, and hopefully, as a community, we can value our voices more and start holding leagues accountable, not just with our words on the forums, but with our actions. Be the change you want to see, and hopefully, this community will continue to grow and thrive, long after any of us are still around to witness it.

#42 Monthly RGL Is Bad Thread in TF2 General Discussion

Bans are arguably the harshest form of punishment any league can hand out. It can be assumed that for most people who play competitive tf2, gaming is a large aspect of their life. Additionally, it may also be a rather social element of their lives considering how small/tight-knit our community is. Banning someone, even for a month, can make it practically impossible for them to play their favorite game for several months. Keeping in line with the sports analogies, that would be similar to someone getting a tripping violation in hockey but instead of getting put into the penalty box, they also are now forbidden from playing hockey for a month. In terms of competitive tf2, there is no viable alternative. Getting banned makes it impossible for people who legitimately care about the game in a competitive setting, from getting any sort of satisfaction/enjoyment from the game. Banning people for stupid mistakes, for such a long time, serves no purpose to protect the community at large. Overturning the match would have been sufficient, but this ban is cruel and extremely uncalled for. I hope RGL can reflect on the issues raised in this thread, and hopefully, no more month-long bans (mind you calling someone the n-word in a match is only a 2 week ban) are handed out to players who made silly mistakes, that had 0 impacts on the outcome of the match.

#16 The Case of Elijah 2.0 in TF2 General Discussion

In some cases, STV lag (and all other issues that STV demos bring up) can 100% be mistaken for suspicious behavior/movement, however, in this case, both STV and POV demos were provided to both UGC/RGL anticheat admins. I am not sure where this idea came from, but rest assured, POV demos were reviewed and used quite extensively in this case.

#95 Warning about Nursey trying to come back in TF2 General Discussion

I can't speak on behalf of all bans regarding sexual misconduct, and on other leagues and their policies, but UGC has been extremely active in working with relevant authorities to help in these cases. Sadly, most cases don't involve the same level of information about the parties involved, however, in Nursey's case, there is plenty of information available to us, both in terms of publically available information (Name, etc.) and privately available information (IP addresses, ISP, etc.). In this case, Nursey's actions were reported to the FBI's CEHTTF (Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force), as well as the Pennsylvania State Trooper's Computer Crimes Unit. Contrary to what some may believe, Nursey's actions weren't just morally reprehensible, but also illegal, and anyone who claims otherwise is ignorant to federal law regarding interstate communication (using Discord/Steam), and PA law regarding the corruption of minors. It is impossible to know what will end up happening in this case, but I can assure the community that the relevant authorities are aware of what has happened. UGC has, and will continue to try and make sure all illegal actions that occur within the league, and the community at large, are reported appropriately to the relevant authorities.

Unicorn_WizardIf your player gets banned don't pay up a sub. Like others have said all it does is give the league money. If you really want to be heard, do it with your wallet and with your not playing in the league. If you don't agree with someone, don't let them hold you and your enjoyment of the game in their hands.

great idea, UGC revival perhaps? :)

#40 UGC Season 30 + Updates on recent events in TF2 General Discussion
Nicholasbearodactylcan i get a tldr i dont want to read all this shit
doesnt rgl actually have a nonzero amount of money why would anyone play ugc i dont get it
TLDR rgl banned dK Karl until 9999 and UGC just announced that hes not banned and theyre re-evaluating old bans for behavior in an attempt to regain some of the hl playerbase back. If people start going back it could split up and potentially kill HL (thats what i took away from this)

The old bans being reevaluated is due to there being some unjust bans under previous UGC administration. No one's trying to kill HL, quite the opposite rather. We are not trying to appeal to a certain fanbase, as a separate league than RGL, our league policies differ and as such we approach each case differently. It is a rushed call to assume that since our policies on these sorts of behaviors differ from RGL's that we are attempting to create a divide.
