tips for getting higher refresh rates

hello i just picked up http://www.amazon.com/Sony-CPD-G220R-Trinitron-CRT-Monitor/dp/B00005TS5S from extended family
was wondering if there was anything other than messing with the resolution so i can hit the max refresh rate of 170 hz for this
also i dont want to make another thread for this question but how bad would the input lag be if i used the crt with a vga to composite adapter cable?

CHERRYMy friend had a guy knock on his door claiming to deliver pizza. It was a guy with a long beard who looked homeless, but was wearing what my friend tells me was a dominos uniform. Apparently the guy insisted my friend should take the pizza and eventually my friend had enough, took the pizza and closed the door. He told me that there were two large pizzas, one cheese and one Hawaiian, that he threw out just to be safe. The next day word spreads that a pizza guy was jumped and had his uniform stripped in the neighborhood that my friend lived in. Like wtf why would you jump someone and then deliver the pizza?? Weird shit
so then he could get the money???
