#12 Sickest Pyro Plays in 6s (if any) in TF2 General Discussion

carpet has a few good ones mixed with pubs and non-pyro stuff, though it’s more “funny moments” than “top plays” material. example vid: https://youtube.com/watch?v=ZFh25LuBjV4

this is the best pyro play in 6’s history not because of skill but because it’s extremely stupid, which is all you can ask for: https://youtu.be/7g1DXUkYrsU

#20 Coronavirus University Closings Thread in World Events

Michigan State closed this morning, all online classes until April 20th or until further notice. I actually go to a nearby community college but I expect they'll follow suit. My job at the MSU campus might also be suspended for the time being. While I don't depend on my paychecks, I know most of my coworkers do. This sucks.

#39 overwatch 2 announced in Other Games

does anyone know if they made any actual changes to the pvp? or is it still gonna be a game of cooldowns, ults, cc, unwinnable matchups, and 1-hit kills over more traditional FPS skills? i hope to god they at LEAST remove the auto-aiming attacks but i'm not holding my breath

if it's more of the same i'll probably only play the pve. i know the pve was really boring but the pvp in overwatch has always been downright atrocious, at least with pve ill have some reason to keep grinding cosmetics

#24 I require game suggestions in Other Games

Your usage of "RPG" is both a little loose and pretty vague. Based on the list of games you mentioned, I'm guessing you're mostly interested in story-heavy, action-based games with some form of character progression.

First, a bunch of games which mostly fit the criteria but which you've probably already played or heard of: Fallout 3/4/NV, Mass Effect series, Vampire, GTA, Read Dead, Deus Ex HR/MD, Bioshock series, Witcher 1&2.

Kingdom Come should scratch many of your itches. Its a bit eurojank, but you enjoy Bethesda games, so it shouldn't bother you much. With a little more tolerance, you might also enjoy ELEX, from the makers of the Gothic series.

Since you're gonna check out Stalker, I'll also recommend the Metro series, as long as you don't mind a more linear experience.

Definitely try Prey if you liked the Bioshock games, or if you're old enough to have played System Shock. Same goes for the Dishonored games.

I have no idea if Vampyr is good or not but it ticks enough of the checkboxes to be worth a look.

The new Tomb Raider games are a little bit of stealth-action, little bit of third-person shooter, little bit of platformer-puzzler, with a little bit of upgrading and exploration. You'll probably like them, at least a little bit.

The new AC games are the closest the series has gotten to being RPGs, and they're pretty well liked. In fact, Ubisoft does a ton of open-world sandbox-style action games with mild-to-moderate RPG elements, so you might enjoy the Far Cry and Watch Dogs series.

The Borderlands series has more in common with Diablo-style aRPGs than with the titles you listed, but it can be played solo and has some decent bits.

I couldn't get into them because of the party-based tactical combat, but the Dragon Age series might be of interest, and supposedly Inquisition can be played more-or-less as a straight action game.

Dragon's Dogma is last-gen, but there still hasn't been another RPG quite like it and it's definitely worth a shot.

The Soulsborne series can be pretty polarizing, and is popular enough that I'm not even sure it's worth mentioning, but they aren't considered masterpieces for nothing. If you like these, you'll probably enjoy games like Nioh or The Surge, although they aren't as good. Also if you like the Soulsborne series, and aren't adverse to 2D indies, then Hollow Knight is pretty fantastic.

Do you have a PS4? If so, try Horizon, the new God of War, maybe even the new Spider-Man and Last of Us.

And although I see you don't want anime, I'd still recommend Nier: Automata. I can't stand anime, and there were a lot of cringey moments, but it's still one of the better games of 2017.

Lastly, a handful of more offbeat suggestions that I nevertheless really enjoy: Hellblade, Undertale, Alice: Madness Returns, ECHO, Hyper Light Drifter, Ruiner, Okami, Transistor.

#157 nerf pyro in TF2 General Discussion
JynxiiHow anyone is dumb enough to argue against pyro being broken and extremely unfun to play against, is beyond me

all of that is true, none of that means it is OP or needs a nerf. it is still a bad class with worse design. what it needs is a proper rework the current tf2 team seems incapable of delivering. maybe to you that warrants a ban, but it seems to me that outright banning the worst class in 6s tf2 would do more harm for the gamemode and community than simply learning to play against it.

#9 Game recommendations in Other Games

What platform are you on? If you're on iOS, I'd recommend the Infinity Blade series. Gameplay is excellent and perfectly suited for phone-sized touchscreen controls. The story starts off sparse but it's given proper attention, with the expanded universe novellas written by Brandon Sanderson himself. I'd say it's the closest thing I've seen to a mobile Dark Souls.

There are some good mobile ports nowadays. I recommend Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective as a pretty nifty puzzler. There's the modern adventure games like The Walking Dead and Life is Strange, if you're into those. I don't know how well the classic BioWare ports control, but they exist. Transistor too, although that's only iOS. And there's always Hearthstone.

Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP is great, if a bit short and straightforward. Card Crawl is pretty fun but it's quite simple, even for a card game.

My favorite mobile game is A Dark Room (I also liked its sequel, The Ensign). Gameplay-wise it's like a mashup between an idle game and rogue-like RPG with timer-based combat. It's all text-based with some ASCII graphics, but paired with the short, cold prose reminiscent of The Road and the hauntingly bleak universe, I found that my imagination did a wonderful job filling in the blanks.

#1 Good Single-Player Games? in Other Games

What PC single-player games do you folks recommend? I seem to have played everything that comes up on lists and recommendation engines.

For reference, I like story-driven games with action gameplay. I loved Life is Strange, but that's an exception. I can't tolerate turn-based combat, unless it's action-y like Undertale. I also hate being scared, so no horror games. Also not a huge fan of stealth.

Games I've played:

Dark Souls I-III
Witcher 1-3
Mass Effect 1-3 (& Andromeda, briefly)
Fallout 3, NV, 4
Oblivion & Skyrim
Tomb Raider (2013 & Rise)
Mirror's Edge (& Catalyst)
Dragon's Dogma
Hellblade
Jade Empire
Hollow Knight
Hyper Light Drifter
NieR: Automata
Bioshock (& Infinite)
Transistor
Half-Life 2 (& the Episodes)
Dark Messiah
MGSV (briefly)
Echo
Prey
Tacoma
ADR1FT
Furi
Cuphead
Portal 1 & 2
Spec Ops: The Line

I don't like Far Cry, Assassin's Creed, L.A. Noire, Dragon Age, Fable, or Watch_Dogs.
I'll probably try Nioh or The Surge if those are any good. Maybe GTA? Anyways, thanks for your suggestions!

#65 Unpopular video game opinions in Other Games

vvv actual unpopular* opinions vvv

  • arena fps games suck
  • jrpgs suck and aren't even a real genre
  • fallout 4/skyrim are overall way better than their predecessors because of the action gameplay
  • dark souls 1 is a 6/10 (the second half is just garbage incarnate); dark souls 2 is like a 7
  • nier automata is way more pretentious than any walking sim i've ever played (still a good game though)
  • walking sims are actually really enjoyable
  • witcher 3 has a lot of flaws that no serious critic has yet addressed (waiting on you anderson)
  • mass effect 1/2 default femshep is better than mass effect 3's
  • bioware is not remotely a sjw company. has everyone already forgotten the fucking beauty pageant and every scene involving miranda?
  • dragon's dogma is not a skill-based game
  • dunkey isn't even that funny
  • lootboxes are legit the only thing that keeps me playing overwatch
  • r/games is a travesty
  • if we can be influenced by our media (we can) and if games are an abnormally violent media (they are) then games are potentially contributing to violence. replace violence with racism/sexism and i think this still holds true. by that token, game creators have a responsibility in the messages that they send with the content that they create

* unpopular = would get downvoted in r/games

look at that again. it's 55 total damage. it is 1 (and exactly 1) rocket in the first mid.
10 deaths, 246 HR. he wasn't afk, he was playing the whole 5.5 minutes. his medic did 172 damage. his medic is more than 3x deadlier than him.

for context, this was a UGC plat scrim.
