Try a different WHQL driver if you're on nvidia. The last beta driver I tried caused problems with TF2.

atmoWhat happens if you type "retry" instead of "quit" in console? That should work equivalent to vid_restart in quake, I think.
"retry" reconnects to what ever server you're in if that's what your describing.
@shade Does this happen in any other games?

Holo design is all black and blue. This is a lot more like Google+'s layout where everything is white

Problems with GTX 480 (?)

CknSaladI usually only update my drivers like after 4-6 months later. The newest drivers are not always the best, especially since your card is rather old now (500 and 600 series out already). I would only update if you have the 600 series cards as there is much to improve drivers wise for those cards. As for the 480GTX, the newer drivers don't improve performance (only for the 660 ti-680 GTX cards pretty much) and just add features like TXAA (new anti-aliasing feature) and fleshing out FXAA.As others have said, roll back drivers for nvidia and update MSI afterburner and make sure your voltages are reasonable for any OC ing you did on your gpu.
Nvidia still lists performance upgrades for 500 series cards in their latest drivers which means both 400 and 500 series (Fermi architecture) should run the latest drivers just fine. 200 series cards are much more likely to have stability problems, but even then, if you have a perfectly stable system in the first place you still shouldn't have problems.

Even if he did have this problem, temperature still doesn't affect performance unless you're over the GPU's TJ max in which case the core throttles or shuts down.
