#1 LFT Scout in Recruitment (looking for team)

I don't have much 6v6 experience save for lobbies but I've been working on my DM pretty heavily and I have watched ESEA/Insomnia and pretty much anything to do with E-Sports/TF2 for 2-3 years now so I have a decent understanding of how the game is SUPPOSE to be played. Obviously putting that into my actual game play isn't as easy as just playing but I feel as though with the right team and the right guidance I could become a pretty decent player. I have pretty open availability (Anytime after 6PM EST I am 100% free but if needed I could schedule time before that)

Just looking to get a bit more out of the game other than pubbing and lobbies, and I played some lobbies with b4nny last night and he told me I had a good grasp of what I needed to do and he thought if I wanted to further myself I should try to get on a team so here I am!

I started out playing Sniper in lobbies (Because thats what I liked to play in pubs) so I am, truthfully a better Sniper than I am Scout so if your team is looking for the occasional player who can off class as well to counter or anything I can also do that.

#4 Question regarding Microphone in Hardware

@flame, Yeah I've had him do that specifically.

@tooth, I believe that would fall under the same lines as what flame said, I have walked through his devices with him and found no problems.

Any chances his drivers could be doing this? He thinks its his tower itself, like he wired something improperly and its shorting something out electrically, but I don't really think this could be the cause, thoughts?

#1 Question regarding Microphone in Hardware

I have a friend that we use mumble to play games ect. but for some reason his mic acts up a lot.

His volume is really low sometimes and the really odd thing is that as he speaks if he doesn't pause his volume lowers and almost goes to a whisper.

Not the headset, hes used many different ones. Mumble is setup properly and his volume levels on his microphone through "recording devices" but still no effect.

Anyone else ever experience this/have any ideas?

Thanks!

I can get PC specs ect. if needed.

Interesting. I hope some kid isn't DDOSing. I haven't heard any announcements about it going down for anything...

#1 Question about "Projects" thread in Site Discussion

Is this a place you would welcome any and all projects ran by an individual where the work is their own, even if it doesn't correlate directly with TF2?

#80 1/13/2015 Site Update in Site Discussion

Very nice work with the layout Enigma. Much cleaner. I feel like I'm in a hospital compared to the old one. Not saying the old one was bad but it had its hiccups. The design of the Streams/Servers is very nicely done. Over-all impressive work my friend.

#1 Twitch Desktop Widget v2.0 in Off Topic

I wasn't 100% pleased with the widget before and just now got around to having time to edit the thing so here is the new and improved Twitch Desktop Widget :)

https://github.com/Tf2Prophete/Twitch-Desktop-Widgetv2.0

The GUI:

To anyone who doesn't know of the Widget, if a streamer is live the name will turn green and turn red if they are offline.

Changes:

  • Added in a "Previous" button to cycle streamers quicker
  • Added in the ability to edit a stream that already exists
  • Cleaned up the code a bit

#2 Computer is Not Performing to Expectations in Hardware

If you are running a dual boot windows, I would advise you to try your TF2 on your other OS. I had a dual boot setup, both identical and one peformed 70-80% better than the other.

#3 Smartphone as Webcam Tut. in Q/A Help

I have my resolution as 640x480 and Quality set to 57 (If it was at 100 I got some spikey FPS)

But the delay is not noticeable, nothing more than a Webcam would be in my experience. It's really handy.

#1 Smartphone as Webcam Tut. in Q/A Help

So I've been asked by quite a few friends/associates on what the best Webcams that don't lose quality for the price. I never really thought about it myself because I've always used my phone, I mean.. most people now and days have a smartphone, and a lot of them are Androids (I'm sure there's something similar to this to iPhone? But probably not.. since its an iPhone!)

App to Use:
IP Webcam

Setup of the app is pretty straightforward, if more info is needed then please ask and I will assist you.

Once you have it setup and you start the IPWebcam server, at the bottom it will tell you an IPv4 address. Go there in your web browser on your PC.

Example: http://192.168.0.1:2010

You'll be brought to an interface that in the top of the navigation bar you'll see "Other Viewing Methods" click that. Next click "VLC Media Player" and you'll be brought to a new page. Locate the URL that looks something like this: http://192.168.0.1:2010/video

http://i57.tinypic.com/2ikpf6b.png

http://i60.tinypic.com/rsscaw.png

http://i57.tinypic.com/bfj387.png

The "video" will be colored red.

Next you'll nee to install a program called Alax.info DirectShow Video Source located: here.

Run that and add a new source and when you add the new source you'll get a prompt to input a URL. Input the URL from above. Also note, it asks for a WidthxHeight. This must match up to the video resolution on your phones IPWebcam App.

After that, go into your OBS or whatever you're using and add a video input source and your new cam will show up! Pretty simple, FREE and easy to setup.

Also, to note I cannot stream with my Kinect Cam on TF2 or I lose FPS horribly. No such problem with IPWebcam.

And for those who are thinking well.. maybe you want to use your phone while gaming? Android has the solution, checkout AirDroid. AirDroid is also free and lets you connect your PC to your Phone via your internet connection. Handy for transferring files ect. but the best part is you can send and receive SMS messages. So there, you can still text while playing.

Enjoy :)

If anyone needs further explanation just PM me or post here and I can do a video/image tutorial for better explaining.

#2 Prophete's programs in Off Topic

A new program I am working on, yay!

So I've decided that there needs to be a more universal "Guide" or "Walkthrough" method/location/format. Or at least I would enjoy it more if there were...

So I have taken it upon myself to start this project in hopes that it will gather some momentum.

Here's some fancy pictures to look at.

Main GUI/Index Tab

Main GUI/Index Tab While Using The Glossary

Section (With picture button clicked)

So what will hopefully happen is: I will create a forum where people can submit/request guides (I'll probably take some time and write up like.. 100 games just to get it started (Or just steal some off of GameFAQS and quote them in it))

And there will be a small learning curve to creating a guide, but a very, VERY small learning curve.

The only catch for it is that you will have to limit your lines to 90 words each, but I will make it simple for you to know when you reach said lines.

What I will do is create a separate program for you to either A: upload a .txt file with a guide already written up or B: you can free type it and it will force a new line every 90 characters. Then you just click a button and it writes it all into a new text document (An .ini to be specific) and when you start the program you see above, you will be prompted to load a guide and viola, your guide is loaded. This way you can download your guide you want and no longer rely on being online to view it. Also, you can have 100's of guides on your PC at a time in a non-cluttered format!

So yeah, what do you guys think so far? Think its worth investing some time in or should I stop being such a perfectionist?
