Okay.

Can't see shit... but at least it's toasty.

In all seriousness, thanks for the suggestions everyone. Starting to sound like a space heater is worth the minor investment.

from my favorite home-store blog!

While this is very interesting, I don't know if I'd want to go through a bajillion tea lights every day.

#1 Warmth Solutions in Off Topic

I need some sage advice from other people who either get cold easily or simply have cold living/gaming spaces. How do you stay warm and comfy?

I already keep the thermostat way too high (It says 80 deg F, but I don't believe it for a second.), and my electricity bill this month is telling me I need to find a better solution. I'm starting to suspect my apartment does not hold heat very well, and it's always cold around the windows and external walls during the winter. At any rate, heating the entire living space (700 sq ft) is kind of silly, because I spend the majority of my time at my PC in my room. Other people have suggested space heaters or heated blankets, but I've never bought anything like that before so I might need specific recommendations.

Yes, I have tried putting on more clothes, but I'm getting kind of tired of dressing like an Eskimo while indoors.

Anyway, I just want to hear how you guys handle this sort of thing, and any specific advice would be great. Feel free to complain about your own situations too.

#11 How to improve a scout in Q/A Help

What exactly is he not consistent with? If he has been playing a lot of DM and MGE, but hasn't noticed improvement with hitting shots, then maybe there's other factors. (ex. lack of sleep, stress, nerves)

If gamesense itself is the bigger issue, then maybe he isn't listening to comms like he should be? I've seen tons of people make dumb plays and die because they didn't listen to comms, myself included. It's also possible he simply hasn't played enough to have the basic knowledge he needs. Like others have said, it really does take time and practice to develop good gamesense. Him reviewing his own demos or reviewing them with a teammate should help somewhat. Make sure he's actively listening/responding to critique and not just staying silent/making excuses for things. Also, I have found that watching high-level teams play with comms or casting can be educational too, so he should do that if he has some free time.

I haven't been playing very long, but this is the advice I've picked up. Hopefully some of it will be helpful. :)

#18 Valentines day in Off Topic

I have a date on Saturday, but I'm not feeling all that excited about it. Didn't really click with them on the first date, but figured it was worth a second attempt.

As for the 14th itself, I'll probably just stay inside, get comfy, and play video games. :3 That's my favorite kind of Valentine's Day.

#33 FITES 250 LAN, March 4-6, 2016 in LAN Discussion

Hotel booked with no problems this morning. 30 days hype!

(If there are any fellow ladies who need to book a room but would rather split the cost, I do have an extra bed. Hit me up if interested.) Nvm, found a roomie!

Well, I have no idea where the rest of the TF2 group will be, but tables 3, 4, and 5 are still relatively empty. I think I'm gonna go with 4 for now.

Also, really looking forward to meeting people. :)

#15 NEED TIPS ON HOW TO PLAY SCOUT COMPETITIVELY? in Q/A Help

A few tips from my friends that helped me with Scout:

-Remember to get buffs from your med, particularly if you have crit heals. That extra health will save your butt very often.
-Don't pick a fight that you can't feasibly win. For me, this is basically all 1v2+ situations and sometimes 1v1's when I know I'm not at the level of the other guy. It may be a little different for you, depending on your skill.
-If you do commit to a fight, BE CONFIDENT. Land your shots as well as you can, pay attention to the amount of damage you've dealt, and if you see the other guy start to run, that means you've pretty much done your job. Make a little extra effort to finish him off if you want the pick, but DON'T get baited into over-extending.

Fair enough. I can handle not being socially bizarre.

I guess I'll plan on going. If anyone needs a ride from the Northern Virginia/DC area, let me know! :D

Hnng, this LAN is so close to me, and I've never been to one before. I really want to go and game, but I don't think I'll know a single person there. How awkward is that going to feel? Should I just suck it up and go anyway?

Seconding this, the search really doesn't order the results in any logical way. Seems like something that should be fixable.
