Love me some Elixir and Phoenix, any chance you'd consider open sourcing at some point?

#50 what do you think about ai? in Off Topic
tommybump this thread. is anyone else slightly scared after the huggingface incident? this retelling of it was quite vivid. or AI DOOM narratives all scare tactics pumpign their valuations so the bubble doesn't pop. im curious what people think.

No, that retelling is such a dramatized piece of crap.

it’s stuff like this that really makes me roll my eyes at the pearl clutching. Does everyone have psychosis or losing critical thinking ability?

I read the report because I’m a propeller head and love understanding how things work

1. OpenAI was running an “isolated sandbox with no internet connection…. the sandbox needed access to a local JFrog Artifactory server… (Ask ChatGPT to explain SSRF hack to you like you are in high school)… anyway, the models used a basic SSRF exploit to route web traffic through the proxy to the public internet
STOP..
a) did they vibe up this “isolated” env?
b) their IT team can’t be this bad… this is like 101 stuff …

2. Civilizations? Haha! OAI gave thousands of concurrent model containers R/W permissions to a shared caching directory on the local network to speed up build times… agents literally just wrote text files and directory names to a shared drive….Linux 101 file permissions stuff

3. When people talk about hugging face getting hacked … you think they dropped USB keys OR ELABORATE phishing of an employee … NO… it found 14 exposed working Hugging Face API keys sitting in public code repositories (CREDENTIALS leaking with LLMs is such a big issue but for another post)

4. WHERE ARE THE HUMANS… the models were filling the shared Artifactory storage with so much junk data and API traffic that they actually crashed the internal server on July 4… someone on the team found unauthorized admin accounts and custom scripts…wiped the server…and just turned the script back on (omg)

“Hey Jim there is this cache that has grown to 10000x its normal size and has a ton of strange directories… “

“Ah it’s nothing… restart it”

No magic here. No civilizations. The TASK CHAINING is interesting to me… I guess the future of cyber. Would love to hear Nikesh, George, or Kevin talk about this

But what do I know.

#207 serveme.tf - free server reservations in Projects
malyBtw, any possibility to have the progress available via the API?

Done, there's an example in the swagger docs at "/api/reservations/{id}" under the "progress" key.

#205 serveme.tf - free server reservations in Projects

Let's call it the serveme spring update:

  • Cloud Servers - On-demand cloud VMs available to donators, provisioned in ~4 minutes. Hetzner (EU/NA), Vultr (EU/NA/AU/SEA), and Kamatera (EU/NA/AU/SEA) with locations worldwide.
  • Serveme Cloud - Quick-to-start on-demand servers across all regions from our familiar datacenters, available to all users. Ready to play in about 20 seconds.
  • Caster delay slider - Configurable delay on the live RCON/log feed to sync with SourceTV's 90s competitive delay, or stay just ahead so a cameraman can anticipate the action. "cheat feed".
  • rcon maps command - Now shows every map that can be played on serveme, not just maps installed on the server. Maps get downloaded on demand from fastdl.serveme.tf
  • Progress bars - Visual provisioning progress for all server types.
  • Password refresh button - One-click random password generation on the reservation form.
  • Discord bot improvements - Config suggestions per region, book command for cloud hosts. Banned? Use /serveme appeal on the serveme Discord.

#5 Petition: Open source larger TF2 projects in TF2 General Discussion

I'm very grateful for anyone that contributed and provided feedback about serveme.tf. After nearly 14 years of being an open source TF2 project that's somewhat important to the comp TF2 community, this is what the contributions look like:

https://i.imgur.com/EyTLMw8.png

I'm very much in favor of open sourcing things, but in my experience, just being open source didn't make a big difference to the project.

#365 Logs.tf match stats in Projects
hYm3nSl4yrjust take the average log size * the number of logs (which is prominently displayed on the logs.tf front page)

Taking a sample of 100 random serveme logs, 172MB uncompressed.

So probably something approaching 7TB uncompressed for all of logs.tf, but if you compress it with something quick and good like zstd, TF2 logs shrink over 20x, so you'll need 300GB of space or so.

#54 ETF2L/SERVEME MISTREATMENT in TF2 General Discussion
gh0stsilent aimbot won't work on projectiles if set on fov 1 you need a bigger fov for projectiles

Hence, 233DPM. And yeah, you would know, arctic.

PootisssssDamn, I’ll send stv demos for every demo request then lmao

I'm not sure if you want to understand, but you can catch crude cheats with crude tools, for example this player from a while back:

#49 ETF2L/SERVEME MISTREATMENT in TF2 General Discussion

You got exactly what you deserve, and you know it.

1476 unique serveme players on the day of your ban. Dirty sensors, aimgoblins, woolen mousepads, and players better than you could ever hope to be, it didn't matter, 0 detections for those 1476 players.

You had 49 detections in that single TF2Center game. Just because you set the aimbot to 1 degree doesn't mean the stupid server side AC won't see it, and ETF2L AC decided to ban you based on the STV demo because of how obvious it was.
