Sporadic FPS drops

Normally I play around 50 fps, which is at least playable. But for the past few days, there have been time periods of 5-10 minutes, occuring every 20-30 minutes, where my fps drops to 10-15, pretty much making it unplayable.

It's cyclical, it'll happen for its 5 minute period, then jump back up to my normal fps for a while. Then, for no reason in about half an hour, it'll do it again.

I can't attribute it to any recent update or any change in my computer, so I'm really not sure what to think/how to resolve it.

Fps configs are awesome. I use the highframes. This should bump it up the fps pretty well.

Sorry, didn't really know what information to provide.

Yes, I use max frames. It used to be fine, but within the past week or so it's been doing this. Specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T7400 @ 2.16GHz
2GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 4300
32-bit Windows 7

Could it be a driver issue? I recall updating graphics drivers not too long ago, I don't know how often they update though.

Yeah, I've done that, it didn't seem to do too much from what I could tell. I plan on building a decent rig over the summer though, so I only need to deal with this for another month or so. Just kind of annoying in the meantime.

After the update, I've been getting HUGE lag spikes. My frame rates are always the same (60-120), but sometimes my game just freezes for a split second.

kirbyI'm sorry that you have been playing this game at 50 FPS :(

Gets to around 30 during fights. Honestly if you play with it long enough it's not too hard to get used to, especially for certain classes.
Looking forward to getting 60 constant with a new computer though. :)

I used to have to play with that low FPS around 1-2 years ago. I didn't notice how much better it is to play with at least 80-90 FPS until I was able to. You might be used to it, but you're missing out on a lot.

I'm gonna set aside $1000 to build a decent rig after the semester is over, I don't think I'll have enough extra for a 120hz monitor though, as much as I want to.

You don't need to spend $1000 to build a rig to play most games out today at high settings. I wouldn't bother so that you can actually get that 120hz.
