As Season 32 nears its end, ETF2L has revealed its second Fresh Meat Challenge, a cup aimed at newcomers to competitive TF2 to help them get experience at a level that suits them. The Challenge will run from the 9th of April to the 1st of June. Signups have already opened and will close on the 8th of April.

The Fresh Meat Challenge #2 is open to players that have less than 10 matches of ETF2L Open and no experience playing in higher divisions, even in other leagues. Players ineligible to play due to their experience can still play, but only as a buddy. Buddies are restricted to the Medic class, and there can only be a maximum of 2 buddies on one team.

The Challenge is split between a group stage and a playoff phase. The group stage will take place from the 9th of April to the 5th of May, and features the 5 maps that were voted the most popular back at the start of Season 32 : Process, Gullywash, Snakewater, Sunshine and Product. The playoffs will start on the 6th of May, and can last up to the 1st of June, and will be run as a single-elimination bracket, with all matches being best-of-3 and a map pick system.

Signups and additions information can be found in ETF2L's blog post.

Actual Pog right here!

I know many people who still plays or gave it a serious run after the first challenge, and it was honestly the best that had happened to ETF2L in a long time. Now i don't expect this second one to have as great of an effect because places like the subreddit seem to distanciate themselves everytime more and more from the comp side of things, but it's still gonna be great i'm sure of it.

If there's anyone doubting if they should participate, stop thinking about it and join! Lots of fun, and don't necessarily need to commit more than to just the challenge so just enjoy this experience.

for people not invested in open div this event is ridiculously stacked.

If you were (and people will inevitably) compare them to Archimedes Cup they are potentially a much more solid event. In terms of casual redditors converted and not being sponsored by MasterNoob I'd argue straight upgrades. obvious mid russian alt and zero-official 2000-lobby tf2center player are about as scary a combo of scouts can be; zero-official 2000-lobby tf2center player is plain and simple the best aimer I've seen in TF2 period. AND is individually one of the smartest and most mechanically skilled people I've ever played with. pubber with 800 spy hours is unfair, he's like an anime character I don't get how but his power just scales to always be on another level of the people surrounding him, Valve servers hasn't got a reputation for fantastic roamers but pubber with 800 spy hours has broken that curse.

In terms of pocket and medic you couldn't find better replacements for the previous winners then with MGE main who has been specifically waiting to roll the next newbie cup and the teams Buddy, the teams Buddy is the only person who could contend with coaches Yak and oJ for his strengths in maincalling and aggressive strategy,

Still think it's a bit unfair to have higher div players on medic.

Yeah it's cool to have an experienced player call, but then it's sort of unfair when you put that against any team with a newbie medic, making newbie mistakes. Sure. They could have a buddy play medic if they wanted, but this should be about the new players.

Plus it can make it harder for newbie medics to even get picked up. If there aren't enough medics then I think the buddy could play as a last resort perhaps

Otherwise I expect it will be a lot of fun like the last one.
