Hello,

I'm on the hunt for a new pair of headphones. My DT990s 250ohms are slowly dying.
I'm looking to spend around 500-600 dollars on a pair of headphones. This is not only for gaming but mostly music. I'm very intrested in the planar magnetic technology.

I've been looking quite a bit at HIFIMAN HE-560 recently since amazon sells them for a wopping 380 pounds.
I'm also planning on buying the dac XDuoo XD-05. So if you got suggestions for a better DAC in the pricerange let me know.
For DAC I don't wanna spend more than 200 dollars.

I do not want too much bass in them, DT990s had fairly good base imo. They could have a tad bit more but not too much.
Also big plus if it has a good surfice to stick the modmic on!

Thanks!

EDIT: Removable cable is very important to me

The HE560 will have weaker Bass and Treble than you're used to from the DT990. Overall a much more neutral sound, which may be preferable. If you're looking for a similar sound signature to your DT990, though, you might look at the DT1990. A little more expensive than the HE560, but more similar to the pair you're currently using. Not sure how well the modmic would stick though, but if it works on your DT990 it should work on the DT1990.

For a DAC I'd definitely recommend looking into Schiit if you haven't already. They have a few options available from USD$100-150. Friend of mine was very happy with his Fulla 2 until he upgraded his system.

I'd recommend either https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-HD-650-Audiophile-Headphones-Grey-Grey/dp/B00018MSNI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1515284327&sr=8-1&keywords=hd650+sennheiser or https://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-X2HR-Resolution-Headphones-Comfortable-black/dp/B01N5VHLUG/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1515284360&sr=1-1&keywords=philips+x2 depending on how much you spend on the dac. From reviews they both seem to have decent bass.

I was also looking at shure 1540 earlier (not planar though, I have a big interest for planar)

So looking at what planar headphones are available what would you recommend?

I've heard good things about the sound in https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-Monolith-M1060-Planar-Headphones/dp/B01N32N5DD/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8

Does anyone had experience with the Monoprice Monolith M1060? They seem to have some issues with the build quality from what I've read
