I have seen all four seasons and I think that the show has come to an end. The sixth episode, "Black Museum" had a vibe of finality to it that made me think that this is the last season. It made so many references to earlier Black Mirror episodes, that it felt like a victory lap for the show.

not even a troll but probably worst season by far imo. black mirror was great because of how ominous it makes the future seem, but this season either did so with just psychopaths killing people which barely had anything to do with the technology, or they had happy endings, showing the good side of the technology, or just straight up had like no meaning at all (metalhead).

after things like playtest, the entire history of you, white christmas, nosedive, shut up and dance, men against fire, all of season 4 seemed really lackluster, except maybe callister.

100% agree. It no longer feel like it's the Channel 4 tvserie it once was. It no longer dig deep into umanity's nature (helped by a technology that, at first sight, might seem nice & helpful). It's way too american now, imho.

I'm apparently the only one who thinks that S04E01 is meh.. Bah! I felt like it was nothing new under the sun, a (bad) aspect of humanity already seen elsewhere. Nothing that happened shocked me, really :\

The one episode of S4 that i felt was better then the others was Arkangel. Between all the ones i saw (all but Black Museum) it's probably the one that makes a better impression of old Black Mirror.
Season1 ~ Season2 > Season3 >> Season4

If others feels like me, you may want to try starting "Inside no. 9", another UK produced tvserie that, in certain aspects, reminds me of early Black Mirror :)

if sarah got stuck on the censored version of life while killing her mom that wouldve been a more black mirror-y ending imo

Last episode was fucking fantastic. I was

Show Content
waiting for a twist where the owner had his mind transplanted with the sadist and that's why he captured the black guy, to experience perpetual bliss. They didn't do that twist though which was suprising.

With that being said the production value is WAY up.

1. USS Callister
Plot was very predictable, and dialogue was incredibly cheesy. I understand that may have been an intentional homage to shows like Star Trek but it ruined the drama of the episode.

2. Arkangel
By-the-numbers tale of helicopter parenting. Pretty much nothing important in this episode couldn't be done with today's technology; the filtering mechanic was completely wasted as setup for fairly vanilla teenage recklessness. Entire episode could have been avoided if any of the three main characters just had a discussion.

3. Crocodile
Difficult to sympathize with Mia or her family; luckily, Shazia and her family were very likable and were the reason this episode made my heart sink into my stomach. It's also a slow burner episode, takes a while for the first relevant tech to even appear, although once it gets started it starts to snowball fast--appropriate metaphor for the crimes she's committing. The shot of the water on the road lit up by the tail-light, making it look like a hidden trail of blood was a great visual metaphor. Ending seemed pretty nonsensical, and I would have preferred a more ambiguous conclusion.

4. Hang the DJ
Continues the trend of the best Black Mirror episodes being the simpler, mostly feel-good ones (e.g. Be Right Back, Nosedive, San Junipero). The mystery is always present but never dwelled on in favor of the relationship drama. The story implies the same type of events might transpire again, making the ending both sweet and sad, but it doesn't bluntly ask the question directly. The twist isn't hard to see coming but the emotional payoff isn't diminished. Also has a pretty soundtrack.

5. Metalhead
Tight script with tense pacing, wonderfully enhanced by the gory, dreary, monochromatic visuals. Unfortunately the ending reveal fails to provide a satisfying explanation of the world or motivations of the characters, and instead just causes further bewilderment.

6. Black Museum
Really did feel like a series finale. The internal mini-stories feel half-baked but are interesting enough, and they end up tying together with the main story pretty well. The conclusion has a celebratory tone that I think feels juvenile and undeserved as a completely unapologetic vindication of a revenge fantasy.

Overall, the 2-3 good episodes out of 6 for the season isn't great but isn't that far below the other seasons.
