No idea about computers. I was having issue with my HP Envy 17 Notebook just not charging even when plugged in and it still just says plugged in not charging often.

Laptop has been dropped multiple times and the side of it is open and gets really hot

around 70 degrees plus according to speccy.

Was getting around 100 fps sometimes 120 constant.

I did some things to help with power problem cus it would jst be plugged in and stop charging and i’d lose frames or it would shut off.

Now it will not go above 60fps no matter what on TF2. Reinstalled, removed configs and cfgs. Tried 2 different fps cofigs, (b4 i was using chris’s max frames and getting 121 fps)

Ran hl2 and my fps is fine around 120-80

But fps no matter what is stuck at 60 fps.

Sorry or bad explanation i have a theory its like going into power mode or some shiz and capping it. Also to try and fix issue i installed geforce experience upadted driver and used nvidia control panel. V sync off. and set to high performance on all settings i can find.

Any help!?!? :(

The side of my laptop is exposed and very hot and always hearing noises like fan but thing is it was not capped at 60 fps b4 now it is constantly.. so confused.

Your computer is probably throttling to prevent overheating. It's could be throttling where it wasn't before because of a heatsink shifting out of alignment or your thermal paste has failed. Laptops are harder to work on than desktops, so it's possible that you're out of luck if the issue is with the hardware.
What things did you do to help with the power problem?

if it's a HARD cap (i.e. almost constantly sitting at 60fps) it's likely you've got vsync or your graphics drivers have bugged out somehow

double check you dont have vsync enabled somewhere in nvidia control panel, and if not try completely wiping the drivers with display driver uninstaller and reinstalling them (also don't install geforce experience, 'specially if you have a laptop, it's bloat you don't need)

to help power problem i took out battery ran laptop just with ac plugged in and also updated bios.

It is still not charging sometimes but i jst push it in again and seems 2 be ok for now.

I hard reset laptop using windows reset. got stuck on 99% for 16 hours then turned off, it said it couldnt delete al files and fully format hard drive but on fresh copy of windows 10 and cant find any old files.

re installed steam and tf2, same problem. But however if i run in windowed mode the fps is not capped, i get around 130 for the most part but it does go down a lot with rocket jumping shooting etc (using chris's max frames) but for some reaosn fullscreen jst caps it at 60..!!!

Also now i am agetting wat i only describe as a slideshow effect where every few secs there is a delay in the picture like say i see someone rjing, he will look down to rj then next time i see him he is rly high in air like it skips. Same with me rjing and like its jst skipping like on walkway if it track a scout running in straight line it will jst jolt forward every few secs.

Any ideas??

I am on gefroce gtx 850M

and an i7.

So confused why fullscreen caps it at 60!!??

I agree with gemm, it really sounds like there is something wrong with your nvidea settings. Check out the power settings from there, and also make sure fps_max is set to 0.

I had exactly your problem with a similar configuration. After the fall creators update my fps was hard capped at 60fps no matter what and I couldn't play the game unless it was in windowed mode.

What I did to fix it was reinstall windows 10 completely (I installed all my graphics drivers offline so I lowered my chances of windows getting its own from windows update). I then disabled the game bar and disabled fullscreen optimizations on hl2.exe (right click hl2.exe -> properties -> compatibility -> disable fullscreen optimizations) and then I had the fps i expected to get. Maybe this would help fix your problem?

Also maybe batteryboost is somehow interfering with this when its hard capped at 60? Just a thought. hope this works for you
