Are reddit headphone forums akin to tf2 one's in how much they actually understand stuff, or is it fine to look for recommendations there?
Any ways, here's a copy paste of the recommendation form from there if any of the tf.tv sages are willing to help me with an IEM purchase :B

Budget - up to $200.

Source - An Iphone 6.

Requirements for Isolation - Gonna be listening to those at bus rides a lot, so good isolation to combat noisy roads and the bus engine's sounds would be nice.

Will you be using these Headphones in Public? - Yup!

Preferred Type of Headphone - IEMs!

Preferred tonal balance - Balanced I guess? I like a clear and detailed sound, one that makes it possible to identify every instrument discretely, to listen for the texture of a guitar cords or the breath of singers and wind instruments... But then again, sometimes some tum tum tum of heavy bass is cool too :P

Past headphones - I've had for a long time a pair of AD700 cans which I bought based on gaming recommendations, broke them somewhat recently. Quite liked those, I have almost no other experience with high quality audio, but the level of detail and soundstage amazed me. I felt the bass was very precise, as in, it's notes seemed like very punctual littles "punches" in my ear, that could be heard separately instead of as a big chunk. Worked well for prog rock and guitar for my tastes, but lacked some oomph on rap, edm...

Preferred Music - Currently, mostly this: https://open.spotify.com/user/12132551660/playlist/7iWznxsCndvftyqyj1MJp9

But also: Chico Buarque, Metallica, Deine Lakaien, Bauhaus, Dream Theater, Savatage, Suede, Candlemass, Lady Gaga, Dan Mumm, Iron Maiden, Depeche Mode, Sonata Artica, Cassia Eller, Nirvana, Scorpions...

What would you like to improve on from your set-up - What are you looking for going into your next headphone? More bass? More detail? More treble? - I don't have an IEM, and I wan't to get one :P

Thank you sound savvy people! ˆˆ

Thanks, but I'm looking for an IEM exclusively right now. Are there any IEM analogues to those cans?

:)

if you like a balanced signature the MEE audio Pinnacle P1 are fantastic. I'm not sure if your iphone will be able to drive them, though.

For $200 you can get the Massdrop Noble X's which were basically Noble Savant's for $200 which was a sick deal; they've dropped twice in the past if you're willing to wait on the gamble for another drop sometime soon. The Westone UM Pro 20 are also $200ish and pretty solid with real good isolation if that's what you're needing.

My personal recommendation for <$200 is the 1MORE Triple around $100ish, they do have "lesser" build quality compared to Westone and Noble for sure though (still quite good) and have been known to have shoddy QC as well. The Shure SE215's might be the most popular $100 IEM out there, super good build quality but the sound signature was never for me.

Edit - Pinnacle P1s are sick too like Paladin said

I have a pair of Shure SE215's and have found them to be pretty good for stuff like noisy bus/subway rides due to their isolation. They were however quite uncomfortable at first and it took me a while to adjust to the somewhat large earpiece. As far as earbuds go though, they're clearly quite well built and seem to be almost indestructible. Sound quality is pretty solid, and I think they have a version with an inline mic/remote for iphones as well. Coming from the AD700s you may find them a bit bassy, but maybe that's what you're looking for.

Also I'm not sure about reddit but if you're looking for more specific recommendations/reviews/whatnot, you may want to check out headfi as that seems to be where a lot of the headphone nerds tend to congregate.

KZ ED9, got them for 14$, with comply foam tips are honestly not to shabby, comparing them to my se215s (right ear went out twice, probably won't replace again)

They'll do the trick until i find something I want to purchase in the higher tier price range

Thanks for the responses guys.

@bearodactyl
The Shure 215's seem to be one of the most popular iems out there, but from what I've read they can be a bit too bassy. The 315's come at $199, what about those?

@ProSkeez
I hadn't actually looked at those Westones, thanks, gonna read some reviews!

Sadly, I don't think I can wait much for something like Massdrop, since I don't live in the US and am counting on a traveling relative to bring them to Brazil. That makes me extra worried about comments of poor qc, because returning the product/using warranty isn't going to be as easy. Is that sufficient reason to drop the 1MORE's? :( They along with the gr07BE have been some of the most recommended to me, but I was leaning the 1MORE way because of isolation(right?).

Hadn't heard much about the Pinnacles too, thanks.

Personally I have a pair of HEM 4s from NuForce and I love them. If you want something a little less bass heavy then these fit the bill, very mid range focused.

The only issue being I am not sure if you are able to reliably find them. You can get them off of their website for like $300 or something but I have seen them on amazon for less. If you cant the HEM 2s and 1s are also really nice.

GL IEM's can be tricky as everyone wants something different out of them.
