  • Video plays extremely slowly / non-existently in both youtube and windows media player
  • Sound doesn't work (mumble, youtube, music, spotify says "this song can't be played" for every song
  • Microphone stopped working on headset, but still says it's picking up sound on webcam

help

windows 10, i5 4690k, gtx 970

This also started happening whilst my computer was on, just 10 minutes before I was watching youtube + listening to music

sounds like your computer caught aids :'(
the audio might be a hardware problem where it doesn't recognize your headphones or something is messed up with your output (depends on if you use motherboard audio out or a soundcard our a dac)
the video thing is bizarre idk why that would happen, presuming you can still play tf2 fine that would suggest the gpu is fine but maybe the hard drive is failing?
the thing is that the videos aren't playing correctly from yt and when you download them (as with audio) which is odd

I used to have the exact same problems. No audio or video works, just like you described it.
To me this happens if I put my computer in sleep mode instead of turning it off, and doing this many times in a row.
Once I realised I should probably just turn it off if I'm not gonna use it for 12 hours this problem completely disappeared.
Not sure if this is what caused your issues, but it helped for me.
(Happened on both windows 8.1 as well as windows 10 for me)
