I wouldn't bother with a case or power supply since I've honestly been using the same power supply since about 2007 (650watts antec earthwatts) and right now I'm running a 980ti... Your money will be better spent with a cpu motherboard ram graphics and probably a solid state drive. Your case and psu have very little to do with actual performance and honestly can be reused build after build granted all the proper power connectors are there for the graphics and don't exceed your 500watt limit

Oh I already have a 120 gb ssd as well as a 500 gb hard drive and a 1 tb external hdd, forgot to include that in the post. Also I wanted a new case because my case is kind of small and I feel like I'll need a bigger case to get everything into and the power supply im just unsure about. I mean my computer runs pretty fine for tf2 (100+ fps) but with overwatch and newer games that are coming out my computer can't handle them. No other place I found online, has price like these, although the downside is that you have to go there physically. they also have those 30 dollars off combo thing going for them.

Speaking of microcenter you can get crazy deals on open box/returned parts especially cases that are slightly dented/scratched, got a corsair d600(?) for like $10 bucks since the side was badly scratched. Sandpaper+black spray paint and it was fine. I have no hesitations buying used cases as long as the power button works lol

If I were in your position I would go with something like this

• These upgrades will put TF2 in a headlock and they won't let go, ever... (300+ fps)
  
• They'll easily run Overatch and games like this at ultra settings 1080p 120+ fps
  
• Included a mini version of the gtx 1060 so that it will fit in your micro atx case
  
• Your 500 watt power supply will be plenty enough

If you have more money you can go with the i5-6600K and add a cooler such as the 212 evo or even get 16gbs of ram for like, $20 more

There's new CPUs coming january so you might want to hold off for a few weeks if you can.
6600K isn't a good idea because I don't think I'd trust you with overclocking and you can't afford it anyway.
I'm not a fan of the 1060 3GB, it's actually a different GPU than the 1060 6GB so it usually loses to the RX 480 4GB.
Not that AMD finally got the drivers up to scratch the 480 is on par with the 1060 6GB actually, so I'd go for that.

If you want high settings I'd actually go for an i3.
More cores don't help at all in TF2 and Overwatch doesn't need an i5 to get >120fps either. So a higher clocked i3 is ideal. Kaby Lake will be clocked another 0.2GHz higher at the same price, so if you can wait for that...
For new games a better GPU would definitely be beneficial. Then the usual "don't get shitty low end mobos with only 2 RAM slots, you'll regret not spending those extra 10$" advice.

There's no amazing deals on cases and PSUs right now, your old ones should be fine, but you could replace them anyway.

It sounds like your GPU is dying, so get that first, maybe a case that's easier to build in, maybe a new PSU if you're really not comfortable with reusing the old one (depends on which model it is though), then wait a bit for the new CPUs, get mobo, CPU and RAM.

UPDATE: Well I upgraded my graphics card from a 460 to 1060 superclocked and so far my monitor problem seems to be fixed (i will update this thread in a day or two and confirm if the problem is fixed) and I'm getting slightly better performance. Next I'm going to upgrade my cpu/mobo/and ram. Any recommendations on those parts? Mostly the mobo/ram/power supply/case I already know what CPU I want. I want the best possible parts I can get for the cheapest price because I don't plan on upgrading for a long time.

Would you mind telling us which CPU you have in mind?
Or are we going to play a nice game of "let's hope this mobo's compatible"?

Well as it turns out there's a tiny, but kind of important difference between the two.
You know, buying a non-Z mobo kind of blocks overclocking on the 6600K and turns it into a waste of money. And buying a Z mobo and a 6500/6600 kind of makes its overclocking function a bit useless, don't you think?

And maybe, just maybe, there was a chance that you might have been able to afford a 7600K instead, which is clocked 300 MHz higher. I know it's more expensive, but I thought you might be able to stretch your budget and get a 243$ CPU instead of a 242$ CPU.
