FPS stutters for 1-2 seconds every 1-2 mins

This started happening last Thursday. I hadn't changed anything on my computer, hadn't even restarted my computer since I last played TF2 with no issues. My FPS will seemingly randomly stoop to 60 FPS, but it feels WAY worse than 60 fps.

I've tried dx8 and dx9, verifying cache, updating drives.

I had this problem as well. Turned out my PC was getting too hot. After cleaning / installing some extra fans it worked well for me again. Can have many causes tho. Have you checked your CPU and GPU temperatures when this happens? Or are there some processes which eat an abnormal amount of RAM or CPU usage?

I've been monitoring any CPU/RAM spikes in task manager, seems normal. Nothing is higher than 50 Celsius, so nothing looks abnormal there.

This is plausible. TF2 is on my SSD which is 4 years old, so it could be deteriorating. I will running TF2 off my new-ish SSHD.

So I've figured something really weird. If I press ctrl + 1, ctrl + 2 or ctrl + 3, it makes the lag occur.

What the fuck???

Edit: Somehow my keyboard has developed ghosting on ctrl+1, ctrl+2 and ctrl+3. I can press 1 before ctrl, but not ctrl before 1.

Yeah I just figured this out myself, I use shadowplay all the time to record random shit. Hope they fix this.

Apparently they're fixing it next update.
