i can't even emphasize how badly i want weapon stickers (and it would be even greater if the costs went to lan)

like the cs system is pretty amazing if you think about it, there's money that goes to the org (then to players) with team stickers, player stickers that directly go to stickers, and event stickers

like shit some people have 4 stickers for their team for each of the majors they went to, i'd totally do that for the teams i liked so i could have a sticker for each lan that they went to

give me stuff to spend my money on @valve

weapon stickers for teams (eg crowns) sound like a good idea, however take into considerations that team sponsors in tf2 change faster than light

yea rosters change in csgo too, like luminosity to sk gaming, tsm to astralis, titan to g2, etc

player stickers exist too like say im gay for dev1ce or grape or whatever u can just buy the sticker for his new team or his player sticker so you can see him play at lan

i can't really see a downside to stickers especially now that viewmodels are forced on in competitive matchmaking and casts of both hl and esea 6s show viewmodels

SideshowYO UPDATE

Made a Discord for this so that we can organise our thoughts in one place. If you spam it with BS discussion I will remove you, keep things structured and on-topic. Feel free to keep using this thread as well, but people with specific ideas, skills, or contacts should go to the discord. I laid out a couple of channels to break down the project into individual manageable tasks.

https://discord.gg/sfuCD

Any chance we could get an updated join link? I'd love to see what I can contribute but the link no longer works.

Here's an updated join link for until sideshow gets around to making a permanent join link.

Hey, I know this thread kinda moved to Discord before I had a chance to post anything.

I've been looking to grow my LAN in Toronto, and there are a couple larger events I have been meaning to email asking if I could organize TF2 within. Riding off i58 to me, is a really great opportunity because it shows that there is genuine interest from a big chunk of the TF2 community, and not just the competitive niche.

I know Toronto is not the most accessible for everyone, because it is on the eastern side of North America, and is in Canada, so yes, Americans, you will need to get a passport. But it is a big city with lots of resources, venues, and accommodation. I know the city pretty well, and I have experience organizing small tournaments.

Two potential events to look at:
http://lanwarx.ca/ (Not within the city of Toronto, but allows you to sleep at the venue similar to GXL, and relatively cheap to get in)
http://eglx.ca/ (Big venue, lots of events, but organization and cost was concerning last April)

Yup, an eSports crate / some sort of crowd funding in-game cosmetic item(s) would make this a lot easier and viable.

Purchasable jersies of all teams attending???

z3taPurchasable jersies (in game) who's proceeds go to fund event

This could get alot of ongoing money. The one off medals could kinda get a large bulk then die off. But as more fans change sides or just tune into the comp scene, they could go get a ingame jersey

I was brainstorming fundraising ideas to increase the prize pool for Toronto LANs, and one idea I had was making a Toronto-themed TF2 t-shirt and selling that, and then doing a raffle for a customized jersey.

I have access to a 3D printer; I was toying with the idea of printing little plastic class emblems as giveaway trinkets. Another option is assembling model weapons that are famous in comp tf2 (like this scattergun http://www.thingiverse.com/make:174417 ) and asking b4nny or freestate or other such leaders of the class to sign it, and have it as a raffle prize to raise money for an NA LAN.

The main fundraising limitation with printing plastic trinkets of Valve-owned IP is that we couldn't directly sell them without permission. They would have to be limited to giveaways or raffle prizes, like the quilt at TotH.
