Do you have some dumb ass script that does +forward and never does -forward?

Can you actually replicate it and see what key causes it, then tell us what that key is bound to?

my best bet is: dont hold movement keys when opening steam in-game overlay, because it will continue doing so untill you tap the movement key that stuck two or more times

clean keyboard or get new keyboard are two options

When this happens to me, i press W.
Usually in the panic of this bug, i press all keys besides W.
But pressing W fixes it. I think it's because pressing W executes -forward

this actually happens to me on other games as well, I think it has something to do with pressing a key and alt-tabbing or going into steam overlay at the same time. Re-pressing the key always fixes it

I isolated the bug down to a keyboard sensor issue and have rebound the wasd keys to edsf thanks anyways though

this used to happen to me, i just had to put -forward in console everytime ;-;
