I bought a 560 ti that was manufactured refurbished and for some reason im getting horrible frames. Tf2 im getting better frames than with my other old gpu.

When I play games like Saints Row the third Im getting 30 fps WITH THE LOWEST SETTINGS. I have no idea what is going on. These are my specs.

Operating System
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1
CPU
Intel Core i3 530 @ 2.93GHz 50 °C
Clarkdale 32nm Technology
RAM
6.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 666MHz (9-9-9-24)
Motherboard
Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. H55M-UD2H (Socket 1156) 36 °C
Graphics
DELL IN1910N (1366x768@60Hz)
SyncMaster (1280x1024@60Hz)
1023MB GeForce GTX 560 Ti (MSI) 40 °C
Hard Drives
466GB Hitachi HDS721050CLA362 ATA Device (SATA) 35 °C
Optical Drives
HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH24NS50 ATA Device

P.S I am dual monitoring and oc my gpu is not really doing much...

Everything should be plugged in correctly, the 2 6 pins are connected to the gpu. Why? Can the card still run with only one 6 pin? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817159125 < This is my psu

Do you want me to provide a picture of the inside of my computer so u can tell me what is wrong?

Could it be that your CPU and RAM are really low spec?

it could also be broken, you might have a failing gpu since video cards have a failure rate even if its low.

TF2 is more of a cpu intensive game. I'm not sure how well your I3 at 2.9ghz will do. Your ram is also at a low speed. Most ddr3 rams run at 1333 or 1666 mhz. Those might be a bottleneck. If you've got aftermarket cooling on the cpu, consider overclocking the cpu, gpu and memory to higher speeds to reduce bottlenecks which results in better frames overall.

If anything, your CPU is capping you. For the lower fps in TF2, have you checked if autosettings changed? It might have detected a better GPU and increased your graphics settings unless you're already using a config.

i3 at 2.9 GHz should be perfectly fine for tf2, the damn game is over 5 years old.

Have you tried rolling back your graphics drivers? Might be worth a shot. I don't see anything with your rig that should be a problem unless you have faulty hardware somewhere.

Updates have shit on this game. 2 months ago I was getting 300+ frames, now I get like 150-210.

I'd upgrade your CPU, mobo, and ram.

CPU may not be the main problem here... since you're getting shitty rates in other games, I'd recommend testing your video card with another machine and see if you can get standard fps rate from it

I can almost guranteed it's your cpu. I just upgraded to a 3570k from a 1st gen cpu and gained like 100 fps and using onboard graphics instead of the 7770 graphics card. Imagine if I used 7770 graphics, probably another 30-50 fps bump.

There is nothing wrong with having an i3/i5/i7 running at 50c. That's actually on the lower end of the spectrum for air cooling. Those things can run at 85c without causing problems.

Your RAM should not be running at 666mhz. Either that's being reported inaccurately or you need to replace it. Unfortunately, faster RAM is unlikely to help your FPS, but it will help loading times and overall PC speed.

I realize it's tough to find benchmarks for SR3, but that card isn't very fast by today's standards. Reviews show it barely hitting 50fps in BF3 at 1680x1050 with a 4ghz i5-2500k. With your CPU, you are unlikely to reach anywhere near that level. It sounds like it's performing right where it should be.

Smackers has it right on the RAM. Some things to do are run memtest and make sure your RAM is in good condition. It doesn't hurt to clean out the dust from your box and re-seat the GPU, RAM, and power connectors.

tf2 doesn't really need an amazing gpu though, maybe it has something to do with another part?

My ram is now running higher and i overclocked my cpu to 3.19 ghz now. The ram is about 777 mhz also. I wiped my whole hard drive and redownloaded everything so SR3 is running pretty well now. Its around 40-50 fps at ULTRA settings. Thanks everyone for the advice tho.

Nvidia GPUs are hit our miss with TF2. Try different drivers.

sounds like a possible driver conflict. Uninstall your drivers, then to be sure you remove everything using a program like driver sweeper to get rid of any remnants. Reboot then install the drivers in safe mode. I ran into a similar problem with my 7850...took a while to get it right.

Also download "Furmark" to test your video card, it can give you an idea if it's performing as it should since that program can max out the video card without requiring the CPU to do much.

Note: sounds like you are overclocking your GPU, may not want to have it OC'ed when running furmark...monitor temps carefully!

I'm using the 560ti with newest drivers, i5 2500k, 16gb ram. No OCing, all stock. I have had zero trouble getting 120+ fps in TF2, and 50+ fps in saints row 3 on max settings.

I don't think the GPU or drivers are to blame, but you should be using MSI Afterburner to sync your fan speed with your GPU temp if you're not already.

Why is your ram only at 666MHz? Did you forget to set it? If its set that low it could be causing your frame drops.

I also had problems with low frames in SR3. Switching to windowed mode seemed to fix it for me. I don't know why, though.

I've used the same gtx 560 on several cpu's. To give idea of fps in tf2
Athlon dual core - 50-70fps (similar to your problem)
I7 3770k 4.0ghz - fps = as high as the game allows
Running that i3 and 560ti, is like merging a 2 lane country road (i3) onto a 4-lane highway (560ti). Your low fps = not enough traffic allowed on your highway.

666mhz ram is normal, it's 1333mhz speed dual chan.

The OP reformatted and his performance is better now. It was most likely a driver problem.
