is 90 the optimal fov? i.e. is there any good reason not to use a fov of like 100?

the highest you can use in tf2 is 90 fov, but there are some resolutions you can play at that will get you a bit higher

It's hard to say what would be the optimal fov if you could pick anything you want over 90. Everything has to get smaller in order to fit on your screen so the higher the fov the harder things become to hit. I generally use 90 but I have mouse 3 bound to fov 70 so i can zoom in(I never really use it though).

Not that bad of an idea, really useful for spy aswell.

Not really accurate. Things look different on your screen, but players aren't harder to hit. Try QL at fov 90, then fov 110 or so... It's different, but not necessarily more difficult.

90 is nice because it feels like the standard a lot of games use that aren't direct console ports, a lot of games allow you to switch FOV anyhow somehow through editing. I hate having to switch games and getting various different FOVs since TF2 isn't the only game I play.

Changing your FOV doesn't change your sensitivity but it changes how you'd perceive it if you're used to 90 (and toggle to 50 for something like an ambassador shot).

I think to bind a toggle it's something like

bind <key> "toggle fov_desired 50 90"
