I'd recommend a seedbox over a vpn if you are using it exclusively for torrenting and can afford it (many seedboxes will also let you run a vpn on the same hardware).

Also the download speed of torrents is dependent on how many people are uploading the file at what speed. I'd find a torrent that definitely has a lot of really good seeders (such as an ubuntu iso) and see what your speeds are.

I mean, you could use vpnbook and then run it through a euro server.. I dl'd some completely legal non-pirated software through their servers, and it was p good. This is only if you want free tho.

I'm not sure why you are getting slow speeds on torrents but fast speed tests... Have you tried several different VPN locations? I assume your VPN allows you to select the city or country of the VPN?

I've used PIA (Private Internet Access) VPN before in the past, and my torrent speed was about the same as without the torrent. I would maybe get 30-40Mbps on a decent torrent.

The funny thing is my speedtest.net speeds were sometimes higher with the VPN on... I'm not sure if its true but I heard something about ISP's not being able to throttle encrypted traffic?
